Oh Pam. I think you’re beautiful but this makeup is just wrong!
I was reading a post at Beauty Savvy called Makeup Sins and it reminded me of a post I wanted to write ages ago.
Instead I’ve written a little of my horror stories on relating posts but I think it would be great to post not only all my makeup sins, but beauty sins in general.
Here are some of my tragic beauty mishaps I’ve done in the past:
- Curled my lips inwards when I smiled for pictures until I was about 10 because I was painfully shy. All my pictures during that time looked weird and like I had no mouth (and I have a big one, apparently). Gotten over that, thank goodness! Spoiled a lot of nice pictures, though. Look at that, it’s already on my blog – you can kinda see what I mean here.
- When I was 9 I decided I wanted to have a boy cut and went to the salon and they cut all my hair off – it was 1 inch long! After that, I trimmed my own hair and bangs ’til I was about 13 or 14. There are no words, my hair was hideous.
- Ah, high school – the best time of my life. Not. Beauty insaneness included heavily rimmed black eyeliner in high school, especially the waterline. I don’t have big eyes, so this made my eyes look even more smaller. Paired with bright red eyeshadow because I was in a “punk” phase and thought it was so “cool”. Hair wise, I had it all: bright orange, jet black, light brown, red, gold – all at home hair color mistakes in high school. (Can you tell I was weird in high school?) I’m happy to report I stopped all that nonsense once I left.
- Probably my biggest beauty ‘regret’: my teeth. My dentist told me since I was 6 that I had “Class A” teeth and that I can should do toothpaste commercials! My teeth modeling dreams all went out the window when I started biting my nails at 13. For 5 years I constantly had my fingers in my mouth, causing a little dent to my two front teeth and the three on the bottom. I have stopped, but the damage is done. :(
Seems like all my ridiculous-ness had to do a lot with hair and strangely, my mouth?! Oh well – it’s funny to think back and look at those crazy photos! What are some of your past beauty mistakes? I’d love to hear – this should be fun! :-)

My biggest beauty mistake was always using foundation that was at -least- a shade too light.
I think I only fixed this last year???
For shame. =(

Bianca – Aw, I think a lot of women do this, I blame the lighting in the shops, makeup shades look so much different in natural light!
Boycut hair style. UGH.
Bright blue eyeshadow. Double ugh.
I’m still cringing at the thought :P

Tine - Blue eyeshadow! How 80′s :D I think blue and turquoise shades are coming back now, though. I see a lot of it!
I made so many beauty mistakes x)
- Once, I wore green mascara…I looked like an alien !
- Because of a bad at home hair color , I had brown-purple hair..with bright purple roots !
- I tried brown lipstick too but fortunately, I didn’t go out with that on my lips ^^
- I used a foundation which was way too clear..;I looked ghostly.
By the way, I like your website. Once i discovered it, I read all the pages :p (excuse me if there are mistakes, english is not my mother tongue)
Salut Krib,
Thank you for visiting! And don’t worry your English is perfect… you should see me speak French, there will be many mistakes!
Thanks for sharing your list of beauty mistakes! I see we both had some bad experiences with at home hair color :-P
Yeah wow, I thought Pam was better looking than that!
I thought that Pam is looking much better…but….:|

Oh wow! I almost forgot when I dyed my hair bright red. Do you remember that, Ren?! And I didn’t even make that mistake at home!
And with all the eye liner stories. At one point (in high school), I didn’t use waterproof eyeliner and someone asked me if I had been playing with makeup…
Ouch!

I do remember the red hair! Did you not like it?
Aren’t some people very direct?! I especially hate when they say, “you look very tired.” What exactly is their point?! Never know what to answer to that!
It wasn’t too bad, really. Just very overwhelming. There were times where it was just…blinding. Lol. I made it darker the week after.
And oh, I know. While I think direct people should be appreciated in one sense, some of them just really need to learn some tact.

In the 80′s, I’d shaved off my eyebrows! Now whenever I think of how I’d look, I couldn’t help thinking about the episode when Rachel (Jennifer Aniston in Friends) bought a furless cat! I looked a little like that obscene cat haha!
Yin – I actually know what episode you are talking about! :-P
Completely shaved off eyebrows sound scary, can’t believe it was the ‘in’ thing!
When I was in high school I used to wear black eyeliner on the waterline only. I have small eyes and that made them look even smaller. I still cringe when I think about it :(
gio´s last blog … Product Review: Labello Star Fruits Strawberry Tinted Lip Balm
Gio – We had that in common, then! :-P Glad that’s over, I only line my top lash line now with a tiny flick, after trial and error I find this suits my eyes best.
agreed with the waterline thing…how come nobody tells you these things at the time? its like, would it have killed my friends to tell me i didn’t know how to apply eyeliner? although my mom pointed it out by telling me that either my face got fat or im wearing too much makeup.
i think my biggest mistakes were…
-thinking tracksuits were cool in middle school (dear. god.)
-mutilating my hair in every way possible (every color ever, half shaved, teased to an inch of its life, dreadlocks TWICE)
-using the same brush for foundation and blush (why am i SPARKLY?) for like, ever.

Bianca - I know! Also, when someone has something in their teeth, don’t you tell them? How is this not that same?! Haha :-P I remember once I was out with my “male companion” *cough cough* and I had mascara flecks down my cheek and he didn’t tell me! Thanks for sharing, I have to agree with the tracksuits, I think that trend was just wrong!
I can’t blame my friends for not telling me, we were all new and experimenting so we all looked pretty awful, but had no clue on what else to do! :-P
I was very natural growing up. Never colored my hair until this year (I’m 17) never plucked my eyebrows, until I got it done professionally two years ago. Always cleansed my skin…
But I did wear a lot of eyeliner when I was around 14. Oh, and I had painfully dry and sore lips when I was 9. Seriously, every picture of me from then makes you want to cringe. The sore went up to my nose. I used lip balm, but I licked them a lot too. Brrr. And my hair had no life to it. Even looking at pictures last year. My hair was stick straight, and not the pretty kind.
