Now for my opinion …

Firstly, I don’t think this women is “fat” or obese, she is “curvy”. I agree with you Diggy in that you say the media should promote people to be fit and healthy, however, some people cannot help the ’shape’ that they are. I know a few people who, despite diets, exercising, etc, they still have “curves”. Some people are just not meant to look like fashion models. I think maybe the word you are looking for is “toned”. Haha. So I still think this photo is a great thing – the media showing all shapes and sizes. At the same time, I do agree with you that the media should promote health, so I would go “hmmm” upon images that are unhealthy and extreme – whether its being obese or underweight; although, people who are skinny or overweight aren’t that way because they are anorexics or just “eat too much”, there are normally much greater issues concerning that. So my opinion is: yes to photos of all shapes and sizes that are normal – but no to unhealthy images; too skinny or too big that it risks that person’s health!

I must say I don’t really agree with this photo. Although people are free to do what they like and be happy with who they are, I think it is wise to encourage people to work hard to have healthy fit bodies and not just settle for curvy or even just plain obese.

A fit toned body is just much nicer to look at. People must realise that perfection is not neccessary, but a body like the one in this picture is not really desireable in my opinion.
