I‘ve been seeing so much ads on this new innovation for some time now, and only got to inspect it at the store the other day. I was bummed to find out that it was actually a cleanser (just thought it was the gadget itself), because I still love my usual cleanser, but I would still love to try this out!
A sell-out sensation when it launched in the US last year, the Neutrogena Wave Power Cleanser is the number one selling cleanser stateside.
The new Neutrogena Wave Power Cleanser has got the moves to open up your pores with a cool cleansing foam that can clean deep to remove more dirt, oil and make up than traditional cleansing. Neutrogena Wave is fun, effective and the vibrating motion delivers an intense, deep clean for a refreshing feeling and a softer, smoother complexion.
Basically it’s an electrical cleanser. It foams up under water and you just press it against your skin and it does all the work for you. I don’t believe that it opens up pores like they claim (remember when I talked about this ages ago? Pores don’t open and close!), but the Wave looks like a great product and I’m really interested.
Has anyone been using this? What are your thoughts on it? Or any thoughts in general? I’d love to know so I can decide whether to try it and hopefully get a review up. Also, if there’s anyway you can get clear pads and put your own cleanser on, please let us all know! I suspect others may want to try this out too, but don’t want to switch from their regular cleansers. Thanks in advance!

Hey Renee,
I use the Wave but not all that often. I bought it back maybe 6 months ago at a Rite-aid in WA. I would say I use it maybe 2X every couple of weeks, but when I do use it my skin feels great. It leaves my skin feeling exfoliated. I recently ran out of the cleansing pads and haven’t bought anymore.
I use one side of the pad and then the next time I use it I peel the pad off and use the other side. It still lathers up when I flip it over to the clean side.
Hey Devin, thanks for sharing! I think it’s a good idea you don’t use it too often – while I see the benefits perhaps using it twice a day (the recommended routine for skincare) it may be too harsh. I’m still on the fence – sounds like a great product and innovation, but it seems they are only advertising the ‘wave’ rather than the cleanser – what type of cleanser is it exactly?! I haven’t found any information on it! Also wished it could work with our own cleansers – like I said earlier I love mine and don’t plan to change.
This didn’t work for me. I have oily skin, and find that this works better for those with dry skin. My husband, on the other hand, loves it. Works for his skin, ‘cos his is dry.

Did you ever end up trying this? The commercials and ads are everywhere but you just never know how well these gadgets really work. Like Tine said, maybe it’s only good for dry skin?

Hey Ouidad, I’m afraid I haven’t yet – I’m a little hesitant since it’s a cleanser on it’s own as well, and I don’t really want to switch what I’m using. Really wished it would just be the gadget itself, I think it would do really well if it were!
Oh switching products can be such a pain. You’re right, though, it would be ideal if you could put your own cleanser in there and just benefit from the exfoliation!

Hey I tried this recently, and though I love the idea, I agree with you about the cleanser thing. It smells like it has alcohol, and that’s a big no-no for me. Plus I already love my own cleanser and don’t want to mix things up. I’m reserving this for really lazy evenings when you have to get the makeup off and don’t want to really exert effort anymore
*Though personally I still like the idea of double-cleansing more, so I’m just reserving this for really, really lazy days.

Hey Kaye, thanks for telling us! I too don’t like the smell of alcohol in skin products, glad I didn’t pick this up on a whim then. I still like the idea of this product, but still wished they would sell maybe empty cleanser pads where we can put our own cleanser on! Oh well, like you said, it could be good for those really lazy days!
