When The Body Shop gave me a goodie bag full of their latest organic skincare range, Nutriganics, from their recent media event, I was beaming. First, how generous, and second; I adore organic makeup and really loving this whole green movement. I even wrote about green skincare recently, so I am especially happy I can finally add a review on the site about an organic skincare range.
(Oh yes, and this should not have to be said but as with everything on the site, this is my 100% honest review.)
Foaming Facial Wash
A blend of essentials oils and natural fragrances, the first product in the set is the Foaming Facial Wash. Ingredients include babassu oil, and organic sugar, mixed in with natural fragrances like Italian lemon, jasmine and red fruits. Said to remove impurities and makeup, the cleanser promises to reveal smooth, soft and freshly cleansed skin.
Here’s the thing about cleansers. I love organic makeup because it means less junk on my face, but I’m still at that age of fearing zits, blemishes and oil. That being said, I was very concerned about that when trying this wash – after all, from what I know, how can natural products give my skin and potential zits a kick in the butt? I need chemicals for that, no? Still, I braved two days – morning and night – of this cleanser. What I like about it is that it really does cleanse your face – it feels so smooth, and it’s amazing how gentle it feels on the skin. It really feels like you’re putting nothing on your face, which is wonderful. The only thing is, like I said; I need my chemicals. I obsessively checked my face and sure enough, about 3 tiny whitehead zits were forming, and that was it for me. Back to my old cleanser!
So for this cleanser, I’d recommend it for those who do not have any problems or concerns with zits. If you’re blessed with good, (or just normal) skin and have concerns about aging and want to use organic products, I would definitely recommend it. Perhaps in the future I will use it when that stage of pimples go away (God willing…).
(Side note: I passed this on to my mother and she is raving about how wonderful it is and claims she will use it forever. So like I said, perhaps this is more suited for those that do not have acne prone and oily skin.)

Refreshing Toner
I’m usually not a big fan of toner – mostly because I find it to be an extra step, and I’m one lazy woman – but I have to say I am really liking this one. It doesn’t feel like alcohol at all (toner girls, you know what I’m talking about!) so there’s no stingy, dry feeling. Instead, it really does leave your skin fresh, like it says! Definitely liking this one.
Smoothing Serum

Used before moisturizing, day and night, this serum is also said to improve suppleness, softens, smoothes and revitalize skin.
While I like this product – it’s light, no breakouts or reactions and smells wonderful – I’m not sure why it’s needed, as it seems to act like a moisturizer. If you’re into serums this is pretty good though, it dries instantly and your skin feels super soft. I just think maybe applying serum then moisturizer may be too much for me but if you really want soft skin this does the trick.
Smoothing Day & Night Cream

I’ll lump these two together as they seem quite familiar, though the Night Cream is much more richer and moisturizing. Both products are easy to apply, smells really nice and it doesn’t give you that greasy feeling. Both promises to moisturize the skin for 12 hours, and I believe it!
I gotta say I like the Night Cream more though, as it really moisturizes the skin for the whole night (especially if you’re in zircon) and skin still feels smooth in the morning. I like the Day Cream too, but I wish it had SPF in it. Both products were fair in my opinion though I like the Night Cream a tad more. Both products didn’t give me any breakouts, though, so that’s probably the best part!
Smoothing Eye Cream

A gentle, lightweight treatment to smooth and soften the delicate eye area, Smoothing Eye Cream is said to work best when applied morning and night.
I gotta say this is only alright for me. It has some great qualities, though: it’s super easy to apply and dries up instantly, so there is not a greasy film underneath your eyes. I dare say that my ridiculous eye circles look a tad lighter, even though I was convinced nothing can be done about them.
Still, it does give eyes a slight refreshing look, which I like. What I don’t like is that it seems to be giving me oil spots, I think that’s what they are called? Either I’m applying way too much or it’s far too rich for me. Still, it’s quite nice, though I think maybe not for me.

Smoothing Mask
Now this product I really loved. Said to “boost radiance” and promises to leave skin feeling silky smooth, this clay mask is just that. Also, it’s super easy to use: just apply it to your skin, relax for 10 minutes and then rinse off. My skin felt really soft and smooth after, and looked more cleaner.
Definitely my favorite out of the whole bunch. Would totally recommend this!
In conclusion…
Alright, enough of the babble – you want to know what I think overall, right? Personally, I think this is a good range. Kudos to The Body Shop for an all organic skincare range, I know there are many who would love a more natural skincare regime.
For the targeted consumers (those who are concerned with first signs of aging and want moisturizing, natural products) then this line does everything it promises. There is no doubt your skin will be ridiculously soft and smooth if you use these products daily. So yes, I would definitely recommend this line for that audience – I love how it’s so affordable too, so it’s worth trying out.
However, while there are a few standout products for the rest of us that I would definitely use (I adore the Mask, in fact it is on me as I write!); like I said earlier, my fellow acne-and-oily-skin girls, we may need something more ‘powerful’.
Now it’s your turn! :) Asia, this line launches next week and everywhere else, I believe the line came out sometime last year. Do tell me – have you tried this line out? What do you think of it? What are your thoughts of a full organic skincare range?

It’s a good and fair review Renee. I am actually on the look out for organic products that are affordable and I would check out the cleanser as I have ‘normal’ skin. Would check out the toner too as it sounds good and yes, I would much prefer to have a day moisturising with SPF. So I would give that a miss. Thank you Renee!
You’re welcome! Do try them out and let me know what you think. I saw the line in stores already. :)
hi renee, thanks for reviewing!
I have a oily skin but sometime my skin is dry (2 cheeks, chin).
The nutriganics range have launched for about 2 months, so i want to test it. I love products of TBS, which are natural.
I’m interested in facial wash but im scared because of reading ur reviewing. So can i use it?
Thanks
Hey Yury! I love TBS too and was excited to try this line out! I do recommend the line, it really is great at what it says it does, however I did get a few tiny breakouts from the cleanser. I would say to try it, but just be aware that if you are prone to breakouts it may just happen. If you have normal oily-ish skin that tends to be dry without zits and such, I think it’ll be great! Let me know if you do try it out :D
Hi, Renee!
Once I asked a consultant from Clinique “why would we need a serum before moisturizer?” and she told me to imagine a sponge: how do I think the sponge absorbs more water, when it’s dry or when it’s already a bit wet? :-D and I got the point!
Take care!
