Redken

I first bought this product for my Mom, as she says her hair is like straw and I’ve been hearing raves about Redken’s All Soft range. Apparently it has mysteriously disappeared from her bathroom, and I certainly have nothing to do with it! ;)

Anyways, my plan was to innocently borrow it for one wash so that I could review it for this site, but I fell in love; what can I say. So it stays!

Advanced silkening formulas contain Redken’s exclusive Interbond Conditioning System and illuminating Silk-Luxe Complex to provide dry hair with intense softness, replenishment and strength. Hair is wrapped in softness with increased manageability, movement and luminous shine.

First of all, I think this does more than Redken’s Extreme Force, strangely enough. I always thought that the Extreme line would do more for damaged hair. Anyways, one application of the All Soft conditioner and hair feels extremely soft. I might be crazy but I do see gold glitter in the product … very weird! It smells heavenly and ugh, it’s just overload of softness!

There is really nothing more to say, this product does what it says and I’m one happy customer. I am definitely going to check out the rest of the All Soft line. I think their deep conditioner, Heavy Cream, is next on my list.

Does anyone have a conditioner that they swear by? I’d love to hear – though I love this I would still like to experiment and compare!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone is having a great 2009 so far – I am very excited for the new year; and for whatever the future holds!

I can honestly say 2008 was a good year. I am so blessed and just have the most wonderful people around me. I am so happy I started Beauty Fool and all the great ladies I’ve met through my site :-)

Anyways … before I get too sappy, 2008 was a great year beauty-wise as well! I found lots of new products that have already become staples in my beauty routine and definite ‘it’ products for me.

In no particular order, here are my best beauty finds in 2008!:

  • Redken Extreme Anti-Snap – I sang praises for it on my review of it here, but it really is great. While there are many leave in conditioners out there, I find Anti-Snap doesn’t weight the hair at all, and I can feel a difference in my hair within seconds. Also, the smell is just wonderful. It’s a little on the expensive side, but this lasts for quite a while so I find it is well worth it.
  • Lancôme Virtuôse Mascara – I’ve always loved Lancome mascaras and this one is no different! One gripe I have about it is that once the tube starts to dry out a bit (after 2 months or so) the mascara is very dry and doesn’t have the glossy, true-black color it normally has when the product is new. Other reasons why I love it? Read my review!
  • L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray – This is by far a great beauty find. I wrote a post about it here, and how it is used by stylists all over the world – and I understand why. It is perfect, that’s all there is to say!
  • Chanel La Ligne Professional Duo Eyeliner – This was a funny product I stumbled upon. It was my famous impulse buy of 2008, which turned out to be great. Wet or dry, this eyeliner can create a daytime, natural look, to dark, deep dramatic eyes. They just came out with a brown version of it, too.
  • Bond No. 9 Chinatown Fragrance – I decided to add this one on the list purely because it was nothing I ever smelt before! It is very strange; but in a good way. My classmates were telling me how sexy it smelt, haha! You can read my review here.

What are some of your best beauty finds you found in 2008? I’d love to hear what everyone’s best finds were!

After falling in love with Redken’s Extreme Anti-Snap, I somehow completely trust this brand and plan to try out the whole Extreme line one day.

The last deep conditioner I tried out was Pantene’s 3 Minute Miracle. While I really like it, I still want to explore what else is there and if I can find something better (also, I need to blog about other brands too!)

When a discount beauty store opened next to me and Redken products were almost half off from the salon prices, I took it as a sign to start shopping! I purchased Redken’s Extreme Rescue Force, and All Soft Conditioner.

Redken’s Extreme Rescue Force is described as a deep contioning hair mask, used once a week or so, depending on the damage of your hair!

Redken’s exclusive Interbond Conditioning System delivers a unique 3D Repair Complex of proteins, ceramide and lipids to help provide internal strength, cuticle reinforcement and protective resurfacing.

Contains:

  1. Proteins – internal strength
  2. Ceramide – cuticle reinforcement
  3. Natural Lipids – protective resurfacing

Why it works:

  • A silky, rich cream
  • Provides deep conditioning, detangling and repair
  • Strengthens and restores distressed hair
  • Leaves hair in enhanced condition with increased manageability and shine.

Instructions said to leave it on on towel dried hair after shampooing for 5-15 minutes, but you know me! :) I left it on for a good half hour. I was amazed at the results, my hair seems extremely soft and somehow stronger. The product smells wonderful and that tub looks hilarious on top of my toilet! Haha!

I have been using rescue Force every time I shampoo for the past 2 weeks followed by Anti-Snap once my hair has dried, and I really see a difference in the strength of my hair. There is a big difference in breakage – after my cut, I can hardly find them anymore! I really hope it continues so no more breakage will form.

Someone please tell me which is more sad – me having 4 inch long split ends, or me searching for them obsessively with a giant pair of scissors in hand – my mother thinks I’m mad!

Either way, it means my hair is extremely damaged and something needs to be done. Step one was to copy off 4 inches of hair and the next thing to do was find some kind of leave in, anti-break, anti-split end, anti- everything to fix my destressed hair.

(By the way, I am wondering why my split ends are that bad – I don’t blowdry, dye, perm, or use styling tools. The only thing I can think of is that I tease my hair A LOT because of styles/ in need of volume. I’ve heard teasing is terrible for the hair, but is it really that bad?!)

Anyways, I was at my cousin’s house one day, she’s getting married (!!!) and she told me about Redken’s Extreme Anti-Snap product, a “leave-in treatment gently smoothes the cuticle and helps fortify hair that’s prone to breaking, splitting or snapping off.”

I tried some on and this thing is gold!

The smell is delicious and gives my hair that whole “salon fresh” look and smell to it. It was easy to apply, and my hair felt extremely soft and smooth after applying it. Since the product is more of a prevention tool rather than solution, I can’t really document if it’s helping but I believe that it would help – my hair felt really healthy and I assume using this product longer would help even more. I’m on the hunt for my very own bottle.

Does anyone have any other tips on preventing split ends? I think I need all the help I can get!
