Smith’s Rosebud Brambleberry Rose Lip Balm Review

February 20, 2009

in Lip,Reviews

I‘m sure all I have to say is ‘Smith’s Rosebud Salve’ and everyone will start drooling!

I’ve been hearing about this brand for ages, and would always read how much celebrities loved them; finally I have tried it out.

Rosebud Brambleberry Rose Lip Balm is scented with the delicious aroma of freshly baked berry pie. The balm relieves dry, chapped lips and skin, leaving them soft, smooth, and great-smelling.

(I’m getting really lucky with my recent product choices aren’t I? First the amazing Clinique Power Lash, and now this!)

Unfortunately there were only two flavors available at the on the counter today; this and the menthol flavor, and I decided to get this one. Hopefully I will get my hands on the original one, because even though I love this balm; Brambleberry actually smells quite disgusting, haha. So I agree with everything above apart from the ‘great-smelling’ bit…

Another thing that I find not too great is the packaging, sometimes it’s hard to open.  But it doesn’t matter because I think this product is outstanding, there’s nothing really else to say - this lip balm is amazing. It isn’t sticky, goes on smooth and glossy, and hydrates dry lips wonderfully. It also looks amazing over lipstick, and gives a very dewy, wet look.

Though it is a little expensive, I would say it’s worth it, and I will definitely be repurchasing in the future. Would just have to get a flavor that smells less foul, though! :P

Either way, I would highly recommend this and would be interested in what you guys think.

Has anyone tried this product? Am I just being paranoid about the smell? :-P

This smells like urine, it is complete opposite to the original it stands no chance, because now that is perfect. Just get the original and it would really be perfect. I got this one since I loved the original Rosebud salve but the smell is so nasty, and also it tastes really bad. Hope you get the original one, I would recommend that to everyone here!

Oh, just to add the original is a rose smelling one, very light and nice, not like this one! :)

Renee, you took the words right out of my mouth! The packaging is gorgeous and the texture pretty nice but yes, like you, I am not fond of the scent. :P

Oh wow, I am glad everyone’s excited about this! I have also gotten a few emails enquiring where they can purchase this – very cool, so thanks for all your comments!

Anyways, just to report, after using it for 2 days I think I’m used to the disgusting smell now … but still, I recommend getting the other flavors! :P

I believe the original is Rose, I haven’t tried it yet but it is described as a ‘light rose scent’… either way, it has to smell better than this one! I also tried out the menthol one which smelt way better, but I didn’t want that menthol feeling on my lips :P

My favourite lim balm would still (about 5 years after I first discovered it) have to be The Body Shop’s Strawberry Born Lippy. It’s yummy smelling, tastes great and is made from beeswax purchased under a Community Trade agreement! What more could you want?

Meg, I couldn’t agree more – I love what The Body Shop do, it’s such a great, ethical company. However I have never tried their lip balm before, but if you have loved it for 5 years, it must be good and I will have to find me some! :-P
