Shiny Hair in 5 Seconds

in Beauty Tip of the Week,Hair

This beauty tip of the week is something I’ve been doing for as long as I can remember, and yes, once again it’s a tip I learnt from my mom. (Why don’t I just hand this blog over to her?!)

beauty-tip-pic

To refresh your memory from all that Xmas feasts and New Year’s partying, the previous tips she’s given us is making your own nose strips, and how lemon juice is great for natural highlights.

This time, to get naturally shiny hair, one tip is to rinse your hair in cold water after you’ve washed it. Cold water as a final rinse after washing will seal your hair’s follicle, allowing it to reflect more light and putting those hair-flicking Pantene models to shame.

Have you heard of this beauty tip before, and have you tried it out? I would love to hear your thoughts and theories on it. :)

we ALWAYS bathe and rinse in cold water here, especially during the xmas season because heater’s not installed on every home. and while it does work, i believe it’s not enough…make sure you leave home after drying ur hair because wet hair accumulates dirt. :D

Aw you super woman! I always get colds after a cold shower.

Yeah, this trick does work but like I said to Krib below, for real ridiculous shine products are the best. Coconut oil seems to work too, although too much and your hair just looks greasy, not shiny! :-P

I’ve been doing it for years but i don’t know if it really works or if my hair products are responsible for this shiny hair…but i continue, you know, just in case :p

Hey Krib! I do believe it works a little but like you said, for super shine, maybe not – products work well though for that real “SHINE”, but I do think this trick is a very easy, simple way for some shine :D I continue to do it just in case as well! :-P

Apple cider vinegar can do the same thing without the follicle-shrieking pain of the cold water rinse. (Or is that just me? Cold water after a nice hot shower hurts!) :)
