Quick Makeup Tips to Look Awake

Don’t know about you, but I just am not a morning person!

School days were hell – I remember I had alarms clocks, parents knocking on the doors, dog licking my face, mother pouring water on my face … I just don’t like waking up early! You can be sure that my high school days were filled with bed head hair (and not the sexy kind), puffy eyes, leftover eyeliner, zits and all.

Thank goodness those days are over! I have read countless tips since on how to fake looking fresh and ready, when you’re in a hurry from sleeping in:

Eyes

  • Apply some eye-drops so your eyes know it’s time to wake up!
  • Rim your lower inner lash line with a white or beige eyeliner, this will open your eyes up and appear more ‘white’.
  • Highlight your brow bone with a shimmery, light eyeshadow.
  • Groom your eyebrows. You know what they say – they frame your eyes and everything looks more polished with groomed eyebrows!
  • If you have the time, try the age old trick – cold cucumber slices on your eyes to reduce puffiness.

Face and Body

  • Wash your face in cold water! This should wake you up. Use your usual cleanser so your skin looks clean.
  • Try a refreshing face scrub in the bath – even better if it has a cooling effect.
  • Apply moisturizer to hydrate your skin (even better if it’s been in the fridge).
  • Apply concealer under heavy eye bags. (Benefit’s Boi-ing concealer is amazing for dark circles!)
  • Again, if you have the time – put your face mask in the fridge for 5 minutes, then apply it on your face – the coldness should wake your skin up!
  • Apply a pick-me-up fragrance, I like to spray a citrus, light, airy fragrance like Light Blue.

Hair

  • If you have no time to wash your hair (guilty!) then rub in some dry shampoo – it’s a lifesaver!
  • Apply a leave in conditioner like Anti-Snap or a serum so your hair isn’t frizzy.
  • Bad hair day or no time? Tie it up in a bun, or wear a hat.

Those are my tips for getting ready in a hurry! Luckily I don’t have to wake up early for classes, but there are those rare, painful days. :-P

Are there any quick beauty tips to share? Or any specific makeup you use to look awake? I’d love to hear.

Hahahah, I’ll need these tips tomorrow…. it is almost 7 in the morning and I haven’t slept yet haha.

A bright shimmer eyeshadow will also lift your eyes up and look more wide and awake too, that’s my trick hahaha. Cheers.

At my age, none of this will work. Once you are old, you are old! I think I am your oldest reader, Beautyfool!!!!!

Once I finish my makeup in the morning, I’ll spritz some M.A.C Fix+ to 1) set the makeup and 2) to freshen up the face and it really make me wake up. I think the waking up part has something to do with the nice smell. =)

I wouldn’t recommend washing your face in freezing water. When the water’s too hot or too cold, it shocks the skin and irritates it (thus the redness in the face). Better to just use tepid water with a washcloth.

Or you know, a strong cuppa coffee ;)

Hey great tips!! I splash cold water on my face to wake up. It shocks me awake haha!!!

Also if you are too lazy to apply lipstick, i like to eat strawberries for breakfast so you rub it on your lips and it will be a nice natural stain!!!!!!!!

Bad hair day and no time to shampoo, I wrap a scraf over my head.

jc56 – Don’t worry, there is no age limit to Beauty Fool! :-P

Tine – really? Actually I think you’re right, I do remember reading they can cause capillaries. OK I shall edit that right now!

Thanks to everyone for their input! :-)

Uh, capillaries are natural… They just become inflamed or sometimes constricted… We use things like caffeine creams(I actually take a napkin dipped in cold coffee to my dark circles) to increase blood flow and decrease capillary constriction.

So many coffee drinkers! I have never tasted coffee in my life but I somehow know I won’t like it (not a big drinker of anything, really!) so I can’t use that to wake me up :P
