Pick of the Week: Kim Kardashian Fragrance

February 24, 2010

in Fragrance

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian is the latest celebrity to launch her own fragrance. Her fragrance is Pick of the Week because I am so curious to try it out. Also, I gotta say, I’ve seen some episodes of her show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and I kinda like her.

As I said previously in my post about her favorite makeup products and her dramatic hair color change last summer, I really like how she connects with her fans through her blog. She gives them exclusives photos and shares her tips and answers fan questions regularly on her blog and in videos – talk about being down to Earth! Gotta love that.

To start off the new year with a high, she has just launched her first “voluptuous” fragrance Kim Kardashian, and so far I’ve heard good things.

TV star, entrepreneur, model, actress, and trendsetter Kim Kardashian adds another accomplishment to her portfolio: a trademark fragrance. Discover the sensual scent inspired by one of the world’s most idolized women. The essence evokes Kim’s sultry style with crisp top notes, lush mid notes, and a sexy drydown.

Described as a floral scent, Kim wanted a scent that captures her perfectly. She tells OK! magazine: “It’s sexy and sultry, yet youthful. You could wear it both at night and during the day … it has a broad appeal.” Notes includes Honey Suckle, Pink Jasmine, Tuberose, Sensual Spice, Lush Gardenia, Vanilla Orchid, Sexy Musk and Creamy Sandalwood.

Will you be buying this scent? I’ll definitely try it out at the store but I personally don’t really like celebrity scents – something about them puts me off – so I’m probably not gonna like it. But we’ll have to see how it smells, I can’t judge too much! Am I being snobby or do you dislike celebrity scents as well?

I dislike celebrity scents too. I guess it’s because they just put their name on a scent to make more money, and don’t get involved in the creative process, most of the time :/

I agree. :) It just screams $$$ to me. There are a few nice ones but I’ve never liked one enough to buy it myself.

I’m 50-50 on celebrity scents. Something about them automatically puts me off – maybe because it feels like you’re buying a name not a scent – even if I happen to like the celebrity(like Kim)? It’s different then a celebrity endorsing a perfume, it’s like a perfume endorsing a celebrity? However, if I smell it in a store & is reasonably priced, I’d maybe buy it. Though, when I was a tween, I liked the smell of one of Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. perfumes but never considered purchasing it.

Hey Michaela! I’m 50-50 on them as well. Like you said, I’m not sure what it is that puts us off, but it just does, doesn’t it? When I was a teen Britney’s first fragrance, Curious came out and I quite liked it, but never bought it – no idea why I didn’t buy it either, just something about them, huh?

totally agree, its really annoying that EVERYBODY has a scent these days. on the other hand i feel totally biased and occasionally a celebrity will come up with something good…then again i dont know much about perfume, haha. let us know what you think of it!

Haha, yeah everyone and their mother has a perfume out (seriously – Paris Hilton’s mom has a fragrance too) and it’s just too much at this point. It just looks like another way to make money off their adoring fans. :-P

I’ll let you all know, don’t know when or if this will come to Singapore!

haha! introducing the new fragrance, “Fail”, by Paris Hilton’s Moms. top notes of crisp money with subtle hints of hair bleach.

I’m not a fan of celebrity scents either, but I did try this on my wrist on my latest trip to Sephora. It started off very sweet and dried down to an “old lady” scent. It doesn’t smell young and glamorous like I thought. The scent is very busy, like too many scents were thrown in. Let us all know how like it after trying it!

Thanks Tammy for your mini review :D … how unlike Kim for it to smell “old lady”. I’m curious to try it now that you’ve said it smells too busy and the opposite of Kim!

I think is very annoing too that EVERYBODY has to have a perfume!!! Paris Hilton has 10!!! Goshhhh, never something new, something diferent… i havent tried all of them but, in general, they are all the same, boring. And the advertising is always the same “this scent represents who i am, itps sexy but also youtfull!” uhhh we are so tired of that.
But i will have to try the kim kardashian one, just because i love her and the show! hahaha! Yes i do. I asked a friend to bring me a sample from US, bc i dont know when will be available here in brasil… so let´s see, if she gets the sample i will leave another coment here. ;)

Ooh, let us know what you think of the scent! And I agree, they all say the same thing about their scents, boring indeed! I had no idea Paris had 10 fragrances, I lost count after that one where she thought she was a mermaid or something :S

Heyy!!!
I just got my sample of Kim´s perfume yesterday!!!!!!! YEY!!!
I´ve been wearing since yesterday and it´s a really comfortable scent. I dont know why people hated it so much and many said it smelled “old lady”. Well, old lady for me it´s Chanel nº 5, (btw im 19 yr old)…. maybe they didnt like just because they hate Kim. i love the kardashians, she is not my favorite but i was curious to try it!
So I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! IT´s very feminine and it´s pure pure pure Gardênia, or like here in brasil is more popular as “dama da noite” > Lady-of-the-Night . ( I didnt knew gardenia was actually lady-of-the-night, bc here we never say gardenia hehe)
It´s not like the package describe, as “voluptuous, sexy” whatever… not at all!!! I even wish it was more creammy and voluptuous, but it´s not. It´s almost an inocent scent!
I would describe as FLORAL, LIGHT, FEMININE. (that´s my opinion, perfume is very personal, right. I have like 8 diferent perfumes, i have such an ecletic taste).
So it´s floral but not too floral to the point that gives u headache, u know?
I will definitely buy the large bottle. (100ml – 3.4 oz)!!
U should all try it!!!
xoxo

Thanks for your review, Deb! That’s weird how they say it’s one thing but is just a floral fragrance in the end! I will def try it out once it comes here, I am very curious about this scent :)
