I was randomly at Style.com the other night and saw the latest runway looks and was blown away by Gucci! I am in love with the crazy, bold eyes and the soft, beautiful hair.
Makeup artist extraordinaire (and creative director for P&G) Pat McGrath was behind this makeup look, working with eye shadow palettes she creates every season for Cover Girl.
She personally formulates the palettes to mimic her work on the runway, so we don’t have to spend top dollars on their looks!
This year at Gucci she re-interpreted the classic black Smokey eye using turquoise and blue shadow, but keeping the strong black Smokey eye with it. The palettes she used are shown here, Cover Girl’s Eye Enhancers 4 Shadow Kit, in Tropical Fusion and Drama Eyes. (Need help? Read How To Apply Eye Shadow, part of my Make Up 101 series.)
I think this has inspired me to start using more color instead of black all the time!
What are your thoughts on this ‘bold’ look? Do you wear bright colors like this?

I love this bold look! very Cleopatra.
wow! I love this bold look. If you’re familiar with Chinese opera, you might think very ‘wayang’!!!!!! But whereas ‘wayang’ uses every color imaginable, I think the turquiose color Pat McGrath uses is very flattering!!!!!!! Guess on my next night out – turquiose , here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe not for everyday…lol But still love it!

Been trying to get into colors too. Purple is my fave so far, i have hazel eyes and it’s looks pretty. Gonna try green next!
I absolutely love this blue eye shadow. I weirdly enough have recently changed my style too… I’m loving long boho skirts with a tight top and im matching my eye shadow to the colour of the skirt… Yesterday it was pink and it was sooooo nice!!! It just gives a softer look….
Also, when we get older, my mum always says that black can be nice but can in some cases make the face look heavy and more tired… It really depends…
I love these colours!
Thanks for your comments everyone
This has made me go out and buy green eyeliner the other day haha.
Maelle, your mom is right, black can make the eyes looks smaller and contrast against your skin tone and if you have fair skin, make you look paler than you are! It’s all about how you apply it and whatever suits yours skin tone. Maybe I should write a post about it …
