Happy Easter, everyone! Hope you and your family have a blessed one.
May you rejoice in His triumph on Easter and always!
I’ll be back Monday. :)
P.S. A friend sent me this photo, and I think it’s so beautiful so I had to post it. If you know who took these photos, please tell me so I can credit them properly. Thanks!
I‘m back! Sorry for the lack of updates but I was on a cruise for a holiday, and spent my days sunbathing on deck, being fed grapes by some hot European waiter whose name I can’t pronounce … Oh, a girl can dream can’t she? ;-)
Anyways, I did know I would be out in the sun a lot so I picked up La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Fluide Extreme Face Cream before leaving. I chose this because it is basically mentioned in every Allure issue, and was recommended and used by tons of dermatologists. (And we all know how important sunscreen is!) Either way, I’m really glad I picked it up – I really love it, except one gripe that I must ask you guys about, ’cause I’m clueless!
Texture
The texture is amazing! The formula is quite runny and milky, and was so easy to apply. It was also made for combination to oily skin, so you don’t have to worry about looking greasy or oily – the sunscreen goes on matte and did not leave a white cast on my face, which I was really happy about. Basically, it ended up looking like I had nothing on my skin at all.

After my heavenly Mario Badescu facial, I was being nosy looking around at the display of products. I found out that Mario Badescu not only makes an extensive skin care line, but also makes a bodycare line and a men’s skin care line as well.
I was really interested in the body care line, so they gave me a trial size of the A.H.A. Botanical Body Soap; and I’m really glad they did – I quite like it! Probably the best thing I like about it is the smell – it reminds me of those standard hotel body washes I used to use (and steal for home) from all those hotel visits. Brings back some memories. … Is that a tear coming on?
Just kidding – though the scent drew me in initially, there are many other benefits to this body wash – it has AHA (alpha hydroxy acid), so those with problem skin might find this helpful. The ingredients (papaya, grapefruit, Ginseng, oat protein extracts) help exfoliate dead skin cells and cleanse the skin, while leaving it soft and smooth. Best of all; no soapy, filmy residue that I normally hate from body washes.
Oh, and if that’s not enough – it’s one of Martha’s Stewart’s must haves.
Does anybody use Mario Badescu body products? And am I the only one who loves the smell of the hotel soaps? I can’t be the only one! :P

Gisele Bunchen is probably one of those few lucky ladies who just has good hair.
When I saw her Volkswagen Commercial, all I noticed was her amazing hair – a very modern take on the 1940s hairstyle made famous by the iconic Rite Hayworth. Curls like these are not only seen on Gisele but on other A-listers like Scarlett Johannsen, Karolina Kurkova and Kyra Sedgwich.
Celebrity hairstylist Terri Apansewicz made a video at Modelinia.com on how to re-create this iconic look, and also shared it with us!

Prepare for more organic and eco-friendly talk here, ladies! Just last month, I had a “moment” and decided once and for all to get healthy and start being ‘green’ – it’s been a month now, and so far so good!
This change had me exercising, eating right, and trying to do more for our environment. One of the things I’ve also been doing is researching on organic makeup, when I was introduced to Aubrey Organics, specially their translucent base, and I have fallen in love with it!
Feather-light, loose base powder blends with your own skin tone to even out color, soften imperfections and give your complexion a healthy glow. Formulated with rich, nourishing powdered silk and natural colors.
Coverage
While it’s not full coverage, it is a very light, sheer base that can go on top of your foundation. So far, whether you layer this on top of foundation or by itself, the result is flawless. It gives a nice, sheer, yet matte finish to your face, and I didn’t really see any shine to my face the whole day – I didn’t feel a need to get out those annoying-but-life-saving oil blotters!
I know this may be an issue to some, so I gotta say it: Although there are different color shades; there is hardly any color, as it is so fine and translucent.
So really, there isn’t a real need to worry if you got a color that looks a little too light or dark, it goes on very translucent like an invisible veil; so the more coverage you want, the more layers you can apply – I really can’t see it caking or looking too “done”.

I once knew an older woman who said she’d do anything for perfect skin, and would “eat and slather on sh-t if she had to.” Yikes! While it may not be as extreme, these are equally disturbing new products out that contain questionable ingredients that promises ‘perfect’ skin! Let me know what you think.

- Baby foreskin. Apparently, a baby’s foreskin contain 6 natural human growth factors that help rejuvenate the skin and replace the loss of essential cells. Cells from the discarded baby’s foreskin have been reproduced to be used in an anti-oxidant serum that helps treat pretty much everything for cell repair, collagen boosts, and soothing burns. Poor little guys!
- Human Placenta. This dates way back, even though I only heard about it a few months ago. Apparently Soldiers in ancient Egypt used to consume fresh placenta to get ready for battle, as it’s known for its restorative powers. Placentas contain active enzymes, amino acids, vitamins and anti-oxidants, so it is said to be great for stimulation to regenerate skin and improve elasticity. Skin care specialists say this is great for those with acne-prone skin.

- Nightingale Droppings. Said to be an old Geisha secret, it has now traveled to the Western beauty world. Facials and skin creams have recently added this ingredient to their services and products. It is said to clean, brighten and exfoliate the skin. Apparently, is it also a hot thing in Hollywood, too!
- Animal Saliva. Animals lick their wounds for a good reason! Said to have a natural chemical in their saliva, EGF (epidermal growth factor) that helps skin repair itself. Research shows that it helps speed up healing in wounds, burns, and re-generate aging skin. The two scientists who discovered EGF won a Nobel Prize in medicine for their work.
So, anyone going to get these treatments anytime soon? I think I’ll just stick to the basic skin care tips! (And yes – this is real! No April fool’s joke ;-) )

The beauty blogs have all seem to feature this mascara – I suspect its popularity is due to the fact that (apart from makeup, ahem) ladies are shoe crazy as well. I have to admit, the black and red advertising and that big sexy heel definitely made me look twice – this is one hot mascara!
The hottest length lashes will ever wear. Elastic formula stretches lashes up to 70% visibly longer in just one step. Exclusive Grip & Extend brush grasps each lash to separate and lengthen from every angle. Pro-Vitamin B-5 and silk protein strengthen and condition for hi-gloss black-patent shine.
Firstly though – I gotta say Maybelline is one of the best drugstore brands around for mascara. From Great Lash to my very first mascaras I tried (my mom got me my very first mascara – from MAC, bless her soul – when I was 14. After that I tried Maybelline. I loved the one called Lash Expansion, where the heck did that go?!)
Anyways, back to the review:
“Hottest Length Lashes Will Ever Wear” Yep, big plus on length – it definitely delivered on length. Can’t say too much about the volume though. This definitely gives a very long, feathered, natural look. (Although, one night I did layer a coat of this for length, and my beloved Virtuôse for volume – insane!)
- “Exclusive Grip & Extend brush” I do like this brush, though it was just a little large for me. The whole tube, though it looks long and lean (the heel, obviously) was actually pretty big, and so was the brush – very thin and long, but big! The bristles were the old-skool kind (thank goodness, gotta say I prefer this to the new rubber brushes recently) and spread out evenly, so it did aid in separation for the lashes.
- Clumps, Smudges, and Flakes? Not really, none and none. Pretty impressive. In fact, I was very impressed, since it’s a washable formula.
- Overall … I’m happy with this mascara – it does what it says it does. It really is good for those who love the natural, long mascara look. I already know a few girlfriends who would like this. Personally, I would’ve likes a bit more thickening, volume action, but this is also a great mascara to layer with, like I said earlier.
Oh, would you look at that!
