Lancôme’s latest mascara, Virtuôse, is slowly becoming my favorite mascara. I’ve always loved Lancôme mascaras, so when I heard about this, I had to get off my butt and buy one!
Lancôme really is becoming the first in innovation with mascaras! First Fatale, then Virtouse, and recently the vibrating Ôscillation Mascara! I can’t keep up, but I’m loving it.
Virtouse is a Lancôme first, with its CurlGuard formula which promises to “lengthen and hold a divine lash curve for 12 hours.” Its curved KeepCurl brush “provides an outstanding eyelash curler effect.” And it’s long lasting formula is “virtually smudge proof, tear proof and easily removable.”
I basically agree with what was all said. Having completely straight eyelashes that I had given up on (and had stopped using an eyelash curler cause of it), I decided to do the full works – eyelash curler, then apply Virtuôse. I was very pleased with the results – the brush really lifted my lashes and curled it well, and amazingly enough most of my eyelashes actually budged and held a curl – a very big curl, as well.
After 12 hours I did have a bit of smudging, but before that the mascara was pretty much perfect – curled, nicely defined, no clumps and my lashes looked naturally long and curled.
Another winning mascara from Lancôme in my books (I also really love L’Extreme) - any thoughts on Virtuose?

I’ve always liked Lancome mascaras, too, so I was extremely disappointed when this one did not do as advertised. I literally watched my lashes un-curl after applying this – I have hard to curl lashes, so upon first apllication, it did nothing. I thought I’d help it along by curling my lashes, just hoping the mascara would “hold” the curl in pace, and that’s when it uncurled my lashes. I was so bummed because I had thrown away my receipt – I’d never had a bad Lancome experience before, so never though I’d need to return this. Anyone know of another good curling mascara?
Laura, I am sorry that Virtuose didn’t work out for you. It’s weird, I’ve been reading some other reviews and others either love it and call it their new HG mascara, while others are digusted. Lancome mascaras always seem to get that reaction!
As for reccommendations with curling mascaras, I’m afraid I have no idea – as I wrote in the post, I had given up on trying to achieve a curl so I didn’t even bother to look for curling mascaras. I hope a reader can help you out! Thanks for your comment
If you’re having trouble curling your lashes, try the Shu Uemura line of curlers. They have a silicone strip versus the usual rubber one so it doesn’t “yank” out your lashes. It’s the best thing for curling lashes, under any mascara you like for length or volume.
Hey Erika,
I actually do have the Shu Uemura curler! It was the first one I bought so I don’t have any to compare it to, but I def think you are right – doesn’t pull out your lashes at all and it’s so easy to use. Unfortunately my lashes just don’t hold a curl too well, though Virtuose has def helped a lot.
i’m not a fan of lancome mascaras..
they always so thick on the brush and clump so much!!
Omg! I have never seen this one.. Love love the brush. I will definatly try the waterproof one!
The waterproof versions of any brand are less clumpy so I suggest trying them.
Celine, I never heard of that before! I have aways avoided waterproof formulas after trying a L’oreal waterproof mascara, because they’re so hard to remove, I would lose so many lashes!
anyone wants to try can mail me. I got a 2 ml version of the virtuose mascara- $8.I got it free while purchasing the black carat virtuose and hence i dun need the virtose.
I totally agree with ur review!! love lancome mascaras! i dont need to wear fake lashes at all!
