It seems like the ladies at Spa Scene can read my mind – that I am turning 21 next month and panicking about it – because they offered to let me try their Anti-Aging Signature Facial last week. I was so excited! They even offered me to have a hair treatment by top Korean stylist Nicky Shin, which again; of course I said yes – if anyone has seen my hair in real life, it’s in dire need of some help (or a cut, but I can’t bear that yet). That is for another post though – today, I want to share about my experience of the facial.
The Facial

Han, the beauty team director, gave me the Anti Aging Signature Facial. Han is qualified in makeup, skincare and asthetics – she even got her start being a bridal makeup artist, before she joined Spa Scene in 2008.
Han was so sweet during the facial and kept marveling about how firm and young my skin looks and that whatever I’m doing is working (woohoo! I felt like a queen). So I was in very good hands! She did say, however, that my cheeks and nose area were oily so I should cleanse my whole face, and double cleanse in that area. So oily skin ladies, (how to find your skin type here) double cleanse on your oily area.
The room was dimly light and freezing cold (I like) and the bed – can we take a moment to talk about it? First of all I loved it so much because it felt like my own bed! It has the fluffiest white blanket and was so comfortable. The whole atmosphere felt like really peaceful, and was very comfortable. The facial itself took 90 minutes, which I feel was the perfect duration – not too short that I think, ‘that’s it?!’ but not too long that I fall asleep.
The products used on me were Korean and French beauty brands:
- Gatineau Cleansing Milk
- Phytomer Peeling Vegetal Enzyme Scrub
- Enchant MF Essential Lotion
- Enchant MF Cream
- Enchant MF Eye Cream
The highlight of the facial was the hydrating mask Han applied on me. It was SO cold!
At one point I thought I couldn’t take it and was about to ask her to remove it, but after awhile my skin got used to it. I’m glad I stuck it out too; it made my skin so plump – from what I could feel, she put a sheet over me (from the cold, no?) the mask product on top, and then left me alone for 20 minutes, where I found myself daydreaming.
The facial ended with a shoulder and neck massage, which was fantastic too. Han said I was tense so gave me a ‘strong’ Korean massage, but I felt it was just right. As I said earlier in my last spa experience, I am beginning to love massages and demand us girls relax like this regularly!

Overall, the facial was 90 minutes of pure enjoyment. There is nothing more relaxing than lying in a comfortable, pleasant place while someone pampers your face, is there? It was really nice to experience Korean specialist and skin care techniques, because I have heard so much about them and their skin care. After the whole BB cream phenomenon (and before that, too) I’ve always perceived Korea and Korean women to really take good care of their skin and have the latest in skin care.
The Hair Salon
After my facial, I sat down in a luxuries black chair and had my hair analyzed by Expert Nicky Shen. Unfortunately for me, my hair received no praises as it is completely damaged. Seriously – I am this close to chopping the whole thing off and sport this look. But my friends and family all scream no! Instead, I got a very nice hair treatment done to help my hair out a bit while it grows out.
Nicky Shin is one classy man, let me tell you – he was there in a suit and tie; really made the whole experience feel more … exclusive? Nicky is a veteran at hair, styling many hairstyles at Korean runway shows and was running 5 salons before moving to Singapore.
He did a normal hair treatment which included a wash, shampoo, condition, hair mask, heater and then wash again. I left the spa with a fresh face and hair drenched in product (to really help it saturate, I left it on ’til the next morning!) and happy. Nicky used Wella System Professional products, and he gave me some products from the line to help repair my horrible hair. (I loved them so much I will be giving them their own review them soon!)

In conclusion …
… try Spa Scene out! In my opinion, if a facial pampers you and you see a difference and you don’t get any breakouts afterward, I’d consider it a success; so, this was a success! I felt like a princess being pampered by all these specialist and everyone was so kind, offering me drinks, magazines to read, and lots of girly gossip! The facial I received, Anti-Aging Signature Facial is $158. If you do go there, please let me know and tell them I said hello!
Thank you to everyone at Spa Scene and Mei Yan for this opportunity. :-D

Hi Renee,
I feel you on Korean ladies having impossibly perfect skin (I watch Korean drama on occasion and darn it those ladies have GREAT SKIN!).
Like you I also love facials. It’s more than just extraction and facial massage for me — it’s a getaway from the hustle and bustle of work, family, school, and life in general. Now, if only they didn’t cost so darn much I’d be there at least once a week! lol
p.s. I just sent you a note :S
