This week’s beauty tip has to do with … refrigerators! Yep, you heard me. Did you know that storing some of your beloved beauty products in your fridge makes it perform better and prolongs its lifespan? Here are some products and reasons to keep your products in your fridge:

- Nail polishes kept in your fridge make the bottle last super long.
- Skin care creams and serums when chilled helps active ingredients penetrate the skin quicker and better. Not to mention, chilled skincare products feel amazing, especially with eye creams – how soothing for tired eyes!
- Perfumes are said to last longer in when slightly chilled, though I have not tried this one myself.
- Chilled body lotions feel wonderful on the skin after a hot bath or shower.
Do you keep some of your products in the fridge? Do you think it works better? I can vouch for skincare items and nail polishes, since I do that myself, but I haven’t tried this for my perfumes yet.
(P.S. Reader Jeanne read my anniversary beauty tip post on how I didn’t know how the heck to Photoshop a proper post-it image, and sent me this one! Isn’t she the sweetest? Thanks Jeanne, it’s perfect! :))

Do try it with your nail polishes! My nail polishes are kept at a little section near the door and they do last a really long time! :D
I have a sneaking suspicion that if I did this, I would get very strange looks from my parents. Not to mention they already overstock the fridge as it is, and I doubt I’d have room in there for even the smallest lip balm!
Plus, I’d feel way too lazy to have to go down to the fridge, fumble through everything to find my stuff, walk back up to my room, use the products, and then return them to the fridge. I barely have the energy to walk across the hall to the bathroom to wash my face in the morning. Maybe if I buy a mini-fridge…
Haha, you might get a few “WTF” looks from your parents! A mini fridge in your room would be awesome, think of all the snacks and drinks you can put in there too! :-P
I am trying to get in shape for the first time in my life, so I have a feeling that if I had a mini fridge, while it would solve my laziness, it would probably cause me to eat at all hours :(
Maybe I should try this fridge thing though! I don’t wear my polishes often, mostly because I’m kind of lazy and I generally suck at applying it. How much longer do the polishes last when refrigerated? Months, years? Maybe I can hide them behind the ketchup packets…
this sounds like a good idea, i might try it for my nail polishes. I’ve never put any of my products in the fridge except lipstick – i wouldn’t put lipstick in again tought, once oyu take it out and it warms up again it goes kinda mushy.

Yes, do try it and let me know! I’ve never heard about the lipstick one, though, I’m curious, do they say it last longer in the fridge?
I guess so, that’s what my friend said anyway :)

Hi,
My mom usually store our perfumes in the fridge. It really works not only it retains the quality of the perfume but maintains the amount of perfume. I mean we know the perfumes evaporate when exposed to warm temperature. Warning don’t spray a perfume when your fridge is open tendency is that the alcohol of the perfume can retain to the food stored in your fridge. Always close first the fridge before spraying your perfume.
Thanks for the great tip, Tazhapaula! I’m glad to hear it works for your perfumes, I might have to start doing that too! :D
I’ve been storing nail polishes in my fridge for years now and I can say that it does help to keep them last for a long long time. Some of my nail polish has been in the fridge for years and would you believe they still work well!
Same here! :D
Well I didn’t know that tip about the nail polishes :). In my fridge would be impossible to keep something because of my father screaming. :) The tip with serums and creams is real, I’ve tried that when I lived alone. :)

Haha, you will get funny looks I guess! Maybe you can try sneaking them in one by one, lol! :-P
Hi,
My toner and moisturiser (gel type) had kept in the fridge for about a year. Especially the cooling toner helps a lot tighten the pores, my skin feel smoother than before:) .. also absorb the moisturiser better!
Aw that’s great, Miyamyn! I like how cool it feels on the skin, it’s heavenly :D
My stepdad would freak out if he found beauty products in the fridge so I’ver tried it x)

Hahaha try it, see how he reacts!! :-P
Renee, glad you like it!
As for me, I keep my fingernail polish in the door of my fridge, all neatly organized. I think my boyfriend might look at me strangely if I kept my perfume and lotions in there though! Plus, I like to display the pretty perfume bottles on my bookcase!
Thanks so much, I love it :)
I have to agree, perfume bottles are so pretty, I want them on my desk! Hiding them in the fridge would be so wasteful :( Haha, and I keep my nail polishes in the exact same place, too! :)
Yo ren…love the article..never tried putting stuff in the fridge…i could probably put my stuff outside my window if i wanted to freeze them…its SO COLD HERE…annoying snow..your site keeps looking better and better..keep it up

Hey Danielle! Thanks so much for your kind words as always. :D
Aw, poor you! We’re in the middle of a heat wave over on the other side of the world! :-P
I don’t keep them in the fridge only because I’m too lazy to get myself all the way to the kitchen every time I want to use my eye cream, but I have tried it and it’s amazing!

I definitely do, especially the expensive serums :P
