Jean Paul Gaultier’s long-awaited line of man makeup, Monsieur is now out!
Monsieur has ‘officially’ come out this month, although it is a re-launch of the same idea from 2003(makeup for men) and I read it was called everything from Tout Beau Tout Propre to Skin Styling. (Don’t blame me! The only makeup I knew about 5 years ago was glitter nail polish!) Anyways, the man makeup is back, five years later, renamed and repackaged.
In fact, they say,
‘A Monsieur lies hidden in every man. Monsieur is sophisticated and elegant without fuss or complication, but of course not without humor’.
The line includes “aesthetic enhancement” products like a cleanser, toner, shaving products, concealer, eyeliner, brow grooming gel and a bronzer.
Alright, here’s my two cents worth – to each their own, but I’m unsure of this line! The product types seem pretty reasonable – eyeliner (or ‘guyliner’) is really nice when done right; and if a guy has a zit he should be able to use concealer to cover it up. However, the bronzer seems very fake looking to me, and the brow grooming gel seems unnecessary – tweeze those monsters instead! If the line branches out into lipstick and mascara, though, then I’d be a little freaked out!
Boys, will you be buying from this line? :-P

at last..
youre writing something for MEN!
and well, seriously i didnt know theres a makeup line for men,
maybe cos i lived in a cave for almost all my life…
You should purchase this line then, pen! :p
This line seems to be tailored for the modern day “Metrosexual”. Like Pen, I wasn’t really aware of male make up until I stumbled into WhatHeWants, a store that caters to the Male cosmetics market. Although I didn’t buy anything, I realized that if there’s a store that sells make up for men, there must be a demand for it. Which means more men are wearing make up nowadays…
When will it come out and how much does it cost and where can I buy it ?
Hey Mason, it is already available at all JPG counters, which should be most department stories. Not too sure about the prices though!
