I came upon the beautiful French actress Marion Cotillard in this photoshoot she did for L’Officiel’s August 2009 issue and had to post! This particular picture caught my eye because I love this classic beauty look and it surely epitomizes the class the French are known for, non?
This look, however, is as simple and classy as it looks! Here’s the main points:
- Sleek, tied back hair. Rub a little coconut oil (also controls frizz – two in one!) onto you hair and smooth down into a low ponytail or bun – just make sure that hair is out of the way so we can see your beautiful face. :)
- Light, glossy brown eyeshadow. An eyeshadow can turn glossy if you put clear lipgloss or Vaseline on top of it. Don’t overdo it though, just pat a little bit of product on your eyeshadow and that should give it enough gloss. Finish with some mascara.
- Strong, filled in brows. Fill in your eyebrows with whichever eyebrow product you prefer (I’ve written all about them here).
- Light contouring on the cheekbones. I’ll write a post on this in the near future. Use a neutral color such a taupe, beiges or browns. Apply it right under the cheekbone so it looks like a ‘shadow’ to accentuate your cheekbones.
- Red lipstick. This is what pulls the look all together! Opt for a simple matte red and pat it onto your lips for a stained effect.
- Et voila! Très belle :)
What do you think of this classic look? Do you do ‘classic’ beauty looks? And while we’re at it … isn’t Marion gorgeous?! :)

Great post! I personally love to dab red lipstick on during the day. Love that Popsicle stained look.
And I think Marion is so gorgeous! I really respect that she’s so classy unlike so many celebrities nowadays. *Ahem *Paris* Ahem*
Have you seen her in that web mini-series, The Lady Noir Affair for Dior?
