How to get Gisele Bunchen’s 1940s Curls Hairstyle

Gisele Bunchen is probably one of those few lucky ladies who just has good hair.

When I saw her Volkswagen Commercial, all I noticed was her amazing hair – a very modern take on the 1940s hairstyle made famous by the iconic Rite Hayworth. Curls like these are not only seen on Gisele but on other A-listers like Scarlett Johannsen, Karolina Kurkova and Kyra Sedgwich.

Celebrity hairstylist Terri Apansewicz made a video at Modelinia.com on how to re-create this iconic look, and also shared it with us!

How to get the look:

1. Start with smooth straight hair with a diagonal part.

2. Take a medium section of hair and spray with a little hairspray (this famous one is the best, in my opinion!)

3. Wrap the section around a medium size curling iron and beginning with the ends of the hair, roll the hair around the curling iron to the root of the head, release the curling iron and pin the curl to the head.

3. Keep on alternating with opposite diagonal parts of the hair and continue around the whole face.

4. For the back of the head, continue the same steps above but do not go all the way to the root.

5. Let hair cool, release curls and brush through. For the finishing touches, take a little palmade to shape curls and finish off with hairspray.

What do you think of this style? I’m in love!

Somehow I find this old fashioned hairstyles look better on women who belonged to that era. Something just dont seem to go right with a modern woman trying to look old fashion. Well, that’s my 2 cents worth of opinion.

A little old fashion but I think the curls can suit certain faces. Marilyn Monroe hairstyles are still copied today as well!

I agree Ruth, the old fashion looks are not for everyone, but I do think Gisele made a modern look out of it!

Kat – yup, agree as well – some face shapes/styles can take it. Marilyn’s hairstyles are still going strong today!
