How to: Blake Lively’s Smokey Eyes Makeup Look

You girls know how much I love eyeliner don’t you? No? Oh let me count the ways!

I’ve been doing smokey eyes ever since I bought my first eyeliner, so when I saw this Allure cover of Blake Lively … squeals erupted! I love this look – so dramatic, and makes a great statement.

Here’s how you get her look:

1. You’re going to apply a your eyeshadow first. (Need help? Read my post How to Apply Eyeshadow for more help).

Apply a matte white or neutrel color on your brow bones to your crease, followed with your “main” eyeshadow color.

Blake is wearing Quandra Eye Shadow in Smokey Eyes by Chanel, but you can just use any grayish/black metallic eyeshadow. If you want a softer look, try a lighter gray matte color. If not, go all out and apply dark metallic eyeshadows! Apply this dark shade all over your eyelid.

2. Rim your eyes with a black eyeliner pencil, on your top and lower eyelashes. Take your dark eyeshadow again, this time using a thin brush, and apply it over your pencil eyeliner, smudging it slightly – this gives that “smokey” look. 3. Curl your eyelashes, and apply 3 coats of mascara for extra drama. (Don’t know how? My post How to Apply Mascara will tell you!)

4. For the lips and cheeks, remember to keep it simple, since your eyes are so dark. Opt for lip glosses or blushes that are nude, peach or light pinks.

I’d recommend that this dramatic eye look be done for special occassions or for more of a night time look – it’s a little too loud for a bright sunny day! But if that’s your style, then just do it – either way, just remember to smudge, smudge smudge so that the colors don’t look too harshy drawn on.
