Five Instant Confidence Boosters

Confidence doesn’t mean you have to be the life of the party or being loud and bossy (that’s arrogance!); it’s all about loving yourself and being able to show off your talents and great personality.

  • Wear bright, bold red lipstick. It demands attention and just makes you feel so powerful. Try it!
  • Don’t slouch. Stand up straight when walking with your head held high. You’re an amazing person, now act like it!
  • Remind yourself of what you love about yourself everyday. Put a post-it on the fridge. Keep it as your ‘welcome’ note on your cellphone. Tell your spouse to repeat it every morning like he’s singing the national anthem.
  • Smile. When you smile, your body releases endorphins that provides the energy that helps make you feel great about yourself. Try smiling at strangers too, the feeling you get when they smile back is a great confidence booster too.
  • Have a favorite feel good song/mantra to repeat to yourself when things go wrong. One song I’ve always loved is Yellowcard’s ‘Believe’. It goes, everything is gonna be alright, everything is gonna be alright, everything is gonna be alright, be strong, believe. Love it!

What are some of your confidence boosters? :-)

I have to agree with you, Danielle. Singaporeans tend not to smile so much, but the ones I smile at normally do … well maybe 60% of the time, haha :-P

Hey Renee!

I think the smile and upright position are good ones.

Some others you can use are just breathe, deep breaths, focusing on exhaling and inhaling, it brings a sense of calm and confidence.

And in a way having a “who cares” attitude helps, because if you are not worried about what people will think or say, then you have a lot more confidence in doing your thing.

Ciao Bella!

Hey Diggy, thanks for your comment! I totally agree with the “who cares” attitude. I def recommend it to everyone – live for yourself and not for others. :)

Great tips! I especially like the one about not slouching. Standing/sitting up straight always projects confidence. It’s also a great way to fake it ’till you make it, haha!

Yup, standing up straight is very important! Too bad I am horrible at it. :( Ooh and that’s a good one I’ve heard before – ‘Fake it ’til you make it.’

I always feel like my makeup is my biggest confidence booster. A little bronzer and mascara and I am ready to take on the world!

But I think as much as I’m obsessed with “putting my face on” every morning, that’s not what people notice about me. My friends and co-workers barely notice when I forget my eyeliner, but they always notice when I’m missing my signature smile!

Beauty truly comes from inside and so does confidence, there are tons of things you can’t change about yourself, but you can always change what you present to the people around you!

Hey iCandy, thanks for your comment! I definitely believe makeup is a huge confidence booster as well – but like you said, true confidence is being yourself and being proud of who you are. Makeup is fun and definitely helps, but it shouldn’t be the core reason why we dare to leave our house.

… Actually iCandy, I really appreciate your comment – I have an idea for a post now! *Sneaky face* ;)
