Extraordinary Pantene Commercial

November 6, 2009   in For Fun, Hair

Here’s a little something for the weekend. I’m not sure if this is a true story… but either way, bravo! Finally, an inspiring ad that doesn’t just say, “get sexy hair to look hot!” Any thoughts on this commercial?

Have a good weekend! :D

Heya Renee!

Wow I really enjoyed watching this! It makes those of us who are healthy think how lucky we really are. I can’t imagine not being able to hear music. Music is one of the most amazing things in life :)

Have a wonderful weekend! :)

Wow! I’ve seen quite a few Thai commercials in my day (being Thai and all) and none were like this one. It sends a positive message to young girls, but I don’t think it will sell more shampoo. Now, if only they’d stop testing their products on animals.

Glad you enjoyed it! :D

Tammy: Tell me about it. Shameful. :( I don’t use Pantene products though, are they any good?

Have a great weekend!

Hey Renee,

I don’t use Pantene or any other Proctor & Gamble products because I try my hardest to only use products from companies that don’t practice animal testing. I’ve only tried it once before I stopped using their products and it wasn’t special. In fact the shampoo was quite harsh and made my hair fall out!

Ah OK. I ask ’cause it was ages ago that I tried out their products, like I told Amanda below. Wondered if their products have changed cause that was maybe 5 years ago! I don’t like the idea of animal testing either, I def need to write a post on what companies do NOT test on animals. Thanks for the idea :)

It reminds me quite a bit of the J-drama Orange Days. http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Orange_Days

I loved positive message of the commercial. However, it doesn’t make me think any better of Pantene. They still test on animals, and they still use palm oil in their products, contributing to the desecration of the rainforest. It’s my opinion that they can’t help people “shine” until they, themselves, clean up their own company. As consumers, we shouldn’t have to choose between beauty and cruelty.

This video is directed at Unilever, makers of Dove, in the same style as Dove’s own beauty video, talking about why palm oil is an awful ingredient. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odI7pQFyjso Unilever took notice. Proctor & Gamble, the makers of Pantene, still use palm oil.

Oh wow Amanda, I didn’t know this – especially about palm oil. Thanks for the great link.

I’ve not heard the best things about P&G, to be honest – I was aware of their animal testing but not about their use of palm oil.

On another note, I have tried Pantene products in the past (apart from their 3 Min Miracle, which is good) that gave this very oily, thick residue on my hair. It felt like build up. I really stopped using Pantene after trying one conditioner that gave me some sort of breakout on my hands, I had to go to the doctor and had these bumps, peels and rashes for months :(

Wow, that sounds like a horrible reaction! Pantene just left my hair feeling very coated and straw-like from all the silicones.

I wonder if the 3 Minute Miracle is the same one we have in the US under the Aussie brand? If so, I do like that product.

Hey Amanda! Actually, Pantene has it’s own 3 minute miracle product, I wrote about it here:

http://www.beautyfool.net/pantene-3-minute-miracle-treatment-review/

Do they have this product in the US? It’s really popular here (and advertised like crazy), but I thought it was quite good, though. And yes, I LOVE Aussie’s 3 mimute miracle – now that’s a great product! (We don’t get it here so I ask a friend from London to send them over :-P )

Yeah the reaction was horrible… And yeah I agree that it does feel very coated and ‘dull’. Never again :(

Hmm. I’ve never seen it, but that doesn’t mean it’s not sold here. Next time I’m at the drugstore I’ll check the hair products aisle and see if it’s there.

Man, now I want Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. That stuff is fab. :)

Do so and do let me know!

And yes, LOVE Aussie. Just used it on my hair today and it’s so soft and smells wonderful. Go and buy them in the bulk! :-P

Haha yeah, I thought it was a bit dramatic, though I’m not sure if it’s a true story or not.

And I love animals too! :)
