Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfume Review

May 8, 2008   in Fragrance, Reviews

Though Light Blue is quite an old fragrance, it has been “re-released” with this new ad campaign and we’ve been seeing them everywhere and thought that some readers might be interested in buying them! :)

Light Blue brings back a lot of memories – at 15 years old, it was my very first perfume I ever wore, after seeing it advertised in a magazine as one of those fragrance strips. I loved the clean, fresh scent straight away from the sample strip, and immediately asked it for Christmas!

A stunning perfume, overwhelming and irresistible like the joy of living.

The liveliness of Sicilian citron, the happiness of Granny Smith apple, the spontaneity of bluebells.

Feminine and resolute: the intensity of jasmine, the freshness of bamboo, the charm of white rose.

This is great for an everyday fragrance – it’s a very citrus, crisp fragrance. It also has a little musk in it so that the citrus and apply smell doesn’t smell too much like a detergent, which some citrus fragrances end up smelling.

Notes include Sicilian Citron, Bluebell, Granny Smith Apple, Jasmine Sambac, Bamboo, White Rose, Cedar wood, Amber, Musk. Also, the light blue cap on the perfume bottle fits the scent perfectly and the whole bottle is simple, yet so stunning.

Though this fragrance has had a reputation with you either love it or hate it, but I definitely LOVE it! (And if you hate it, you might like The Scent of Peace – quite similar to Light Blue, but less ‘airy’.)

This is one of the top 10 selling women fragrances in the US and Europe. Do you own this fragrance? What do you like most about it?

This scent is manificant, it is a great day wear for women. Pure Italian class design at its best.

I don’t really fancy too many parfums but Light Blue is one of those special ones. It is a fresh, light airy scent. I get many compliments from it. It is only a day scent, it is very citrus, fresh, for active beautiful women. And I am absolute in agreement with the bottle. It is simple and beautiful. I highly recommend this parfum too!

I bought a 5o ml EDT from a supermarket. It was the first full bottle of perfume I bought for myself. Pricy too. I felt guilty for buying it and rarely wore it and so I didn’t get to appreciate it very much. Finally I decided that since I bought it I should wear it without a guilt and tried to wear it but I’m not sure, the juice didn’t agree with me. Probably because it was already gathering dust before I got it at the retail shelf. The fragrance doesn’t last on my skin. The first whiff of bluebells and granny smiths dissipate into a mess of this synthetic metallic smell. I’m guessing this is the musk and let me tell you, it’s truly awful: think of the smell of cheap jewellery after clutching them in your hand. I felt [and to my nose, smelled] gross. I thought maybe if I sprayed more product on, it would smell better. But it didn’t that metallic smell always lingers. I’m very disappointed!

Nowadays I wear Issey Miyake and CK One. They’re both fresh scents. I’m thinking of purchasing Armani Code for Women next or maybe branch out to a rich chypre…….

I’m sorry to hear about Light Blue for you! Sometimes some fragrances just don’t agree with our chemistry; that’s why some fragrances smell lovely on others and smell horrible on someone else!

I too love CK One, good choice! :D
