Forget about a subtle brand logo at the corner of your eye glasses – what about on your actual eyeball?! I chanced upon this product and knew I had to post. Though it’s been out for some time, I only heard about this now and from what I can tell they are still in production. Plus, we haven’t had a ‘Crazy or Cool‘ post in awhile!
Christian Dior, most famous for its haute couture clothes, handbags, makeup and the bestselling perfume J’adore, is to put its distinctive logo in a more unusual place: eyes.
The fashion house has come up with two sets of contact lenses, designed by John Galliano for the Dior Eyes range. The lenses will create the illusion of either a golden or a black ring around the iris. They will also contain a miniature CD logo.
The contact lenses are available in two sets, and each pair will create the illusion of either a golden or a black ring around the iris, said to “encircle the iris and dramatize the eyes.”
While I can understand the thought behind it – for one, colored contact lenses are especially popular in Asia – I am unsure about these. I have no problem with colored contact lenses and I’m all for having a brand logo on the product, but to add a ‘CD’ logo on your iris? I feel it’s a bit too much… talk about being ‘label-mad’! :-P

hahaha! reminds me of “eyeball jewelry”…you can get a little metal star or heart put under a layer of your eye…very weird.

Omg, I’ve never heard of that! It’s an actual surgery, and is permanent, no? Ahh, have you heard of eye ball tattoos? I saw some pretty nasty pictures, not sure if they were fake but OUCH.

Talk about branding! I like the idea of using contacts in fashion – for the runway & for photography – but to have the logo or brand on the eye, strange & ,perhaps I am the only one who thinks this but, a bit tacky.
I’d have to agree it’s a bit tacky. I was thinking that maybe the CD was just added to the ad to look ‘cool’ but it is the actual contact. Very weird, I think.
It’s okay. What I’m really waiting for is designer retainers. My dad snores, so if they had designer snore strips, I’d so buy that in a heartbeat.

okay! im not fully against it or i dont wanna offend anyone! But seriosly (no offence) who wants to walk around with ‘DG’ or ‘GUCCI’ written on their eyes??????? seems kinda weird! but i guess it would appeal to some people….

Thy actually look kid of scary and if you are THAT into labels, not many people are even going to see it…
They do look scary. You never know though, some people might notice that there’s something black at the corner… they might think it’s dirt in your eye? And then you go, No, it’s Dior. Imagine the response to that! Haha. :-P
I actually like the gold look of those contacts, but otherwise it’s sort of crazy. However I used to be obsessed with colored contacts, and was bored with my brown eyes so I tried out a bunch of different blue and purple (cause that’s natural) contacts. They all looked really fake on me, and it’s so hard to see out of them – they make things cloudy – so I gave up on the fake contacts. But the CD ones might be good for Halloween!
