I am a virgin when it comes to sunscreen! I am thinking of getting one and I would like to know whether it is applied beneath makeup and which one I should get for my body.

Hi Renee,

Thank you so very much for the tips! You're too nice :D.
And LOL to "popping pimples.." There's just something so "cleansing" about getting rid of your skin's impurities, right? Glad you can relate hahaha.

And you're right, it doesn't apply to you since the gel version has zero mineral oil. But for sure the original one has loads -- I think it's 75-80% since it's right after water in the ingredients list. I don't mind it, I feel that if it works, then there shouldn't be any harm in continuing to use it.

Here's the ingredient list, although I'm sure it's on the box:

Ingredients: Water Purified, Dimethicone, Isododecane, Butylene Glycol, Bis-Peg-18 Methylether, Dimethyl Silane, Glycerin, Laminaria Saccharina Extract, Saccharomyces Lysate Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Hordeum Vulgare (Barley) Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seedcake, Caffeine, Trehalose, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria), Polysilicone-11, Silica, Propylene Glycol Dicaprate, Oleth-10, Laureth-23, Laureth-4, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp Copolymer, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Disodium-Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Yellow 5, Red 4, Yellow 6

*It's got glycerin, which is a good humectant and, I've read, works much like mineral oil without the "clogging the pores" thing. I have gotten samples of the gel and I love it, too. But I'm normal/dry so I can't rely on it at all. I use the Moisture Surge (awesome name!!) once in a while and I like that, too.

Thanks I'll keep you posted. So far, so good!

p.s. I'm sure you get it a lot, but you are super gorge! I love your avatar -- so chic!

Hmm... I'm afraid I can't help you with Blogger, Mary, but perhaps they have support forums? I like to post on support forums a lot with my annoying questions, and they do help a great deal. Actually thinking about it, I haven't seen a "read me" option on any Blogger sites I've been too. I have seen some fantastic 'looks' on Blogger though, I think it's definitely possible! You can write to a blogger who has an awesome theme and asked them what they did as well. Either way, I hope you find what you are looking for and sorry that I'm not much help :(

...You should've seen me in high school. This was the time I 'got' into the whole beauty thing and I would sit in front of the mirror and pick out every pore I had. Popping pimples were the best LOL. So crazy ... but so satisfying! :-P So I know what you mean... you just can't stop.

I've actually never heard about the mineral oil in the DDML. Yikes! I'm using the oil-free gel version, though. So it doesn't apply to me? I used the original in the beginning but changed soon after.

I look forward to your review! ;-)

Hi,

Look for Kojic acid and, I think, it's called Licorice root extract. Kojic acid is agreat melanin inhibitor. Melanin is the "brown" or skin pigmentation that our skin produces.
Right now I'm trying Neostrata's (a Canadian cosmeceutical company) Eye brightening capsules which is pure Vitamin K -- also touted to get rid of undereye circles. There's also Hydroquinone which is a synthetic ingredient. The problem with Hydroquinone is that it may cause some skin problems, they have actually put a cap on the maximum percentage of concentration of it in skin care products for that reason.
Another is Eyeliss: an agent made of peptides that stops the capillaries, which are really visible in the undereye area as the skin there is real thin, from leaking. That means less visible undereye circles!

Also, use sunscreen around your eyes! You may want to get a separate sunscreen for your eyes to avoid irritation. Again, our skin produces lots of melanin as a reaction to UVB rays. Protecting your eye area will lessen your chances of developing more in the eye area.
Another important thing to remember is that if you're trying to get rid of eye circles due to fatigue, then forget using anything -- you'd just be wasting your money. I guess only sleep will help :D. The aforementioned ingredients only help with.

Philosophy's Dark Shadows has eyeliss (listed as palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3), but I don't know how effective it is.
Peter Thomas Roth's Power K Eye Rescue has Phytonadione (man made Vitamin K.) Quite expensive, though!
There's also Bremmen Research Labs' Hyxelin also has eyeliss. It has gotten mixed reviews, though.

I hope that helped out a little.

Regarding blogger... I guess it's just that I find that I've got very little options for personalizing my page. And I've been trying to get that "Read more" to cut my entries to work for weeks now, to no avail. Maybe I'm just "blog" stupid (haha.)

Anyway...What you said is sooo true. Just give us girls a 10X magnifying mirror and we'll come up with 100 flaws on our face that need to be fixed ASAP. Those things are the devil! lol
I sometimes feel that the less I obsess the better off my skin will be in the long run, but, alas, that is never the case. haha

I also LOVE Clinique. I have dabbled with a lot of moisturizers, but I'll always go back to Dramatically Different Lotion. A lot of people seem to complain that DDL'sformulation is out of date or that it's comodegenic since it's mainly mineral oil, but it truly is a great moisturizer. Mineral oil's a great humectant. I honestly don't see what the big fuss is...

And yes, I will be doing a review on Kinerase's Intensive Eye! I'll let you know :D
Thanks, also!

Hey Ilyana - so sorry but right now I have no other recommendations, this is the first eye cream I've used ... I'm pretty bad myself, should've bought one a while ago! I hope my other readers can help you out with their recommendations. So sorry again. :(

Hey Mary. Thanks for visiting! So glad to have you here and hope to see you around more :)

I totally agree with you - I have only tried Clinique's mascara and lip gloss, and while I do like them a lot, I do think their strength is in their skin care products - I love them!

Yup, retinol is the best and scientifically proven. I'll have to look out for that in the future. Right now I think this eye cream will do for now, I'm probably the only one who can even see those lines (we girls always like to obsess, don't we? ;-) ) but I will definitely look for a retinol eye cream - and will definitely let you all know! Will you be posting a review on the Kinerase eye cream in the future?

As far as Wordpress goes, I love it! You can get a free account at wordpress.org if you don't have a domain name. It's very user friendly. What don't you like about Blogger? I had to maintain a blog for a school assignment and I thought it was fine (except I think it's a little hard to figure everything out at first!)

And thanks so much! I've returned the favor :)

Sucks about that Origins eye cream, their ingredients seemed promising. Kinda like this product I guess - prevention rather than cure!

I need to try that out! I'm one of them girls guilty of not really using a proper eye cream.
Do you know of any eye creams great for getting rid of dark undereye circles?
