Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense SPF 50 Moisturizer

June 2, 2009   in Skincare

Cetaphil, the #1 dermatologist-recommended brand of cleansers and moisturizers, introduces a facial moisturizer that provides broad spectrum UV protection all year round. This lightweight, non-greasy formula provides daily sun protection, while moisturizing the skin. Finally, a breakthrough product that goes beyond moisturizing, to provide the highest SPF available for a moisturizer specifically formulated for the face.

I think this is a fantastic idea. While I don’t use their products (I am forever devoted to my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer), I really hope more moisturizers in the market will follow suit and add some sunscreen protection to their products. (Especially Clinique!)

Product Benefits:

  • Provides broad spectrum SPF protection with an optimum blend of 5 filters
  • Shields against UVA/UVB with micronized Titanium Dioxide
  • Nourishes and hydrates the skin to avoid evaporation
  •  Absorbs quickly and leaves no filmy white residue
  • Cosmetically elegant and non-greasy lightweight formula that provides daily sun protection
  • Fragrance-free and non-irritating (suitable for sensitive skin)
  • Non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores

I know their cleansers are one of the best for very sensitive skins. The only time I have tried their Cetaphil cleanser was when I was on holiday and lost my normal cleanser, so I had no choice but to borrow from someone. :( Thought it was OK but nothing special, though. Does anyone use Cetaphil products?

I used to use the moisturiser, it was very light but too light for my skin. Others with more oily skin may find it just right. :)

Forgot to add that it is fantastic that they added sunscreen in the product, it means that the protection you use is non-comedogenic too. Clinique don’t put SPF in their 3-step moisturizers so I use their superdefense moisturizer in addition, which is fantastic but costly especially in addition to the other which I have to use for my blemished skin!

Hey Kelly! I use the Clinique 3 Step too, and have been thinking of trying their other moisturizers instead of the DDML (which I love, but it doesn’t really do much than moisturize). Will definitely look into Superdefense, thanks for the tip!

I live and die by Cetaphil face wash, though I’m not a huge fan of their creams. (I use the lotion as a replacement shave-cream when I run out. :D ) The only thing I don’t like about Cetaphil is that they don’t have moisturizers with added anti-oxidants or vitamins for the skin, just moisturizers.

I know what you mean about a moisturizer that just moisturizers and doesn’t do much else! I just wrote to Kelly above that I’ve been using Clinique’s famous yellow DDML for years and love it, but it doesn’t have any other benefits so I’m going to look around. Will definitely keep you guys updated and write review(s) on the ones I’ve tried :)

i use their cleanser and it’s beyond awesome! i’m on isotretinoin so my skin is sensitive and stuff, but Cetaphil’s cleanser doesn’t irritate. and my skin feels supple after washing =D

Aw, I’m glad you’ve found something that has worked for you! I’ve heard Cetaphil cleanser is one of the most gentle cleansers in the market. I’ve definitely found my ‘perfect’ cleanser but I think I need to start looking for a new moisturizer :-P
