It’s my mission to try each and every one of Bond No 9’s fragrances, because so far every one I’ve tried I’ve loved to death.
The latest I tested out is Chinatown, one of their more famous scents. I’ve heard endless raves about this on other beauty blogs, so I couldn’t wait to try it out!
I can safely say that this is my favorite Bond no. 9 fragrance…so far. This will probably change when I test out another one, but this is definitely one of my favorites. (I’m also obsessed with Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue Perfume too).
I’m terrible at explaining scents, because how can you exactly explain a smell?! The oriental yet floral fragrance is very spicy and personally I think smells very sexy (don’t know if this was what they were going for though!)

“See a shoe and Pick it up and all day long you’ll have Good Luck.”
So said Andy Warhol half a century ago, when he first got noticed as a shoe illustrator ensconced on Lexington Avenue.
I am in love with that quote!
Now for the artist’s 80th birthday, Bond No. 9 returns to Warhol’s origins and celebrates the mutual sensuality of shoes and eau de parfum.
To celebrate Andy Warhol’s 80th birthday, Bond No. 9 has created it’s third Warhol inspired fragrance, Lexington Avenue. (I also reviewed the second one, Andy Warhol Union Square). And let me tell you this bottle is FANTASTIC! I think it’s my favorite Bond No. 9 bottle so far.
The Story
But why the shoe connection?
Back in 1955, Warhol published a little book, A La Recherché du Shoe Perdu, (my broken French tells me that means, The Search of the Lost Shoe?) filled with his illustrations of shoes. He did this to make ends meet, whilst being camped out in his furniture-less apartment in 242 Lexington Avenue.
Along came I. Miller, the legendary shoe establishment, which chose Warhol to update its image with illustrations for ads that would appear on a regular basis in the New York Times and the Herald Tribune.
The Notes
Not only is the message (and that bottle!) very special, but so are the notes – the very top note is Blue Cypress, which is rare to have a wood as a top note.
Other tops notes include Fennel, cardamom (curry spice) and Roasted Almonds. Middle notes include Pink peony, crème brulee, pimento berry, with patchouli and sandalwood as base notes.
My Thoughts!
I wore this fragrance out and I could stop sniffing my wrist. There is something so different about this scent. It smells fashionable, and the scent is quite spicy. It is described as a “seductive and intoxicating autumn-winter scent” and I could not agree more (those writers always best describe the fragrance better!). I can definitely imagine this in the Winter months and this is an extremely sexy scent.
To be honest I don’t think I’ve ever tried out a “spicy” scent, but I like it a lot! A big difference from all the floral fruity scents around, and I am torn… this or Union Square?!!?!
I am loving this Andy Warhol collection and hope there are more to come!
I previously wrote about Jessica Simpson’s new fragrance, and I finally tried it out.
And I like it! But don’t tell anyone.
Like it’s description, it really is a “sensual fragrance that is feminine, versatile and memorable.” It is extremely feminine, and like its name, the scent does smell very “fancy.”
It is a fruity floral, though I would say it’s more fruity as it’s very sweet and candy-like. At the same time, I can definitely smell a warmth that is caramel, so it isn’t your typical overly sickeningly sweet scent. It smells young, but mature at the same time. Does that make sense?! (For reference to another celebrity scent, it is thankfully not as sweet smelling as Britney Spears’ Fantasy. My goodness that thing can give you a cavity!)
Like I said; I like Fancy, but I personally don’t like to wear florals or fruity scents, so I wouldn’t buy this.
Those that do love floral/fruity/sweet scents, I would highly recommend this! It’s definitely one of the better celebrity fragrances out, for sure!
Has anyone tried this out? What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear!

I really have been out of it these past weeks because apparently Jessica Simpson is releasing a perfume next month (August 15th to be exact) and everyone but me is talking about it! Shameful.
Inspired by Jessica and her “award winning talent, beauty and captivating personality, Fancy Jessica Simpson is a sensual fragrance that is feminine, versatile and memorable. It is red carpet ready while maintaining the subtle flirtatious charm of the enticing girl next door.”
Jessica said, “With Fancy, I wanted to create a pretty fragrance, one that I could be just as comfortable wearing on the red carpet or every day with my favorite jeans. For me Fancy is just that–fancy. This is a special fragrance–personal, whimsical, playful and romantic with a heart of gardenia, an essence I truly cherish.”
The scent was created by perfumer Alexis Dadier of Mane Paris and developed with Parlux Fragrances, who also developed Paris Hilton’s fragrances.
Notes include pear, apricot nectar, gardenia, jasmine, toasted almonds, caramel, sandalwood, vanilla crème and amber crystals, and comes in 50 and 100ml bottles, and a body lotion.
Any thoughts on this perfume? Or is it just another celebrity fragrance to you? You can read my review on this scent here.
My favorite smell is the first smell of spring in New York,” Andy Warhol once said.
Maybe that’s why he developed a portfolio of vibrant colored flowers screen prints at the first of his two studios on Union Square.
His work, and the location of these studios inspired Bond No. 9 to create Andy Warhol Union Square, the latest in Bond No. 9’s series of collectible Warhol fragrances, out now.
Notes
The scent, the second perfume in a collection produced under license from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, is a “seductive green floral” and includes notes of Lily of the Valley, Green Stem Notes, Sweet Blue Freesia, White Birchwood, Amber and Silver-cloud Musk Accord.
My Thoughts!
It’s really hard describing this scent, because the way I see it, it is art – and I remember how hard it was critiquing pieces in Art class! The scent is definitely a floral, but a bit sweet as well.
Bond No. 9 describes that the scent is “pure, clean energy,” and a “balanced mix of sweet and cool”, and I couldn’t have said it better myself. The staying power is pretty good, and it can be both a day and night scent.

Imagine freshly baked skin, doused with a coating of premium Euro-sunscreen then warmed up by a midday siesta by the beach – and the sensual stirrings of a body in heat.”
…No, this is not an excerpt from one of your secret romance novels! ;-) It’s the premise of Bond No. 9 fragrance Fire Island, said to “summoned forth the distinctive spicy-sweet aroma of the most sought-after of vintage Euro-bronzing oils”, and is a “reminder of skin sniffed up close.”
Fire Island is exactly that, it is sweet and spicy, and includes notes of Cardamom, Neroli, White Musk, Skin Musk, Tuberose and Patchouli.
Fire Island was the winner in the 2007 Fragrance of the Year FIFI Award for Men’s Nouveau Niche Category, but I don’t think this is necessarily a men’s fragrance.(In fact I didn’t even know it was one until I found that information on their website! But, thinking about it, I can see imagine this scent on both a man or woman.)
Overall, I love this fragrance – it is perfect for summer. Not too strong that it’s obvious you’re wearing perfume to the beach/pool, yet there is a sexy warm scent lingering somewhere. ;)
The Scent of Peace was my very first Bond No. 9 fragrance I’ve ever tried, and it’s given me a good – make that great – impression of the brand already – I am dying to try out more of their scents!
The Scent of Peace is an uplifting citrus floral scent; notes include grapefruit, black currant, lily of the valley and musk.
I’ve read tons of reviews and comments on this fragrance and some claim that it is so similar to Dolce and Gabbana’s Light Blue that you should save your money and get Light Blue.
In my opinion, this does smell very much like Light Blue, but less ‘airy’ and little more stronger – I think that’s the blackcurrant in it. Other than that, the dry down smells almost identical to Light Blue – oops!
