Crazy or Cool

As some of you may know, I do have an interest in fashion. (I just can’t afford it, therefore it’s just tees and jeans for me!) So I completely get that sometimes fashion is eccentric, crazy, over the top, cool, you name it. It is art, after all, and I love that!

But I saw this latest trend of bunny ears and I was just confused to why it was a trend. I can’t decide whether it’s supposed to look cute or … I don’t know. It doesn’t make sense, so bunny ears may be too much for me. I don’t have any reason not to like it, but I just think it looks a little dumb – so this might have to be a ‘crazy’ for me this time!

What do you think? Bunny ears – crazy or cool?

Yes, this is a man wearing fake eyelashes. And yes, I too am jealous of his perfectly applied eye makeup – it looks amazing!

Anyway, we last discussed what you thought about ‘Guyliner’ (men wearing eyeliner) and it was mixed responses, which I love – I love hearing all of your opinions! However, I need to take it further. What if the man in your life had a more perfectly applied smokey eye than you? What if he’s also wearing your foundation, stealing your lip balm, or worse – secretly trying on your expensive Shu Uemura fake eyelashes?

I’m sure we are all very aware that actors, TV presenters and musicians all wear makeup for TV appearances and photo shoots. But how much is too much for you? What’s your limit, if any? What I’m talking about those not in front of the camera – should they really leave the house with a face full of foundation, bronzer, colored lip balms and mascara filled lashes? What do you think?

Generally I think to each their own, but for my significant other I really don’t mind too much, as long as he doesn’t look like this. However, I might have to rip out his eyelashes in anger if they are longer (and prettier) than mine.

Fashion sometimes is either genius or very, very weird. (Most of the time genius, though.) Some trend are awesome, some … a little bit out of the box, to say the least. Crazy or Cool this time around comes from the suggestion of reader Dip (thanks Dip!). She wanted to know what others think of the bleached eyebrow trend, and so do I!

Personally, I think this trend looks great in editorial and it’s very high fashion. It gives the most focus on the eyes, and the eye makeup can really stand out. Not to mention, the models look more intense and extreme – I love it. In real life though, I might think it’s a bit weird. I mean, eyebrows frame the face and gives so much expression, so and the person may look permanently surprised. So fashion; love it. Real life, not so much.

What do you think of the bleached eyebrow trend? Is this trend crazy or cool to you?

Anyone who grew up playing with My Little Pony will know that pastel colors were the it thing, baby.

And it seems now, a decade later, we are no longer playing with them, but rather getting fashion inspiration from them! (I don’t mind, they are super cute, no?)

Pastel colored hair is all the rage right now and has shown up on the runways of Chanel and fashion mags like Nylon, and a certain blogger (aka me) is fully loving it. But I want to know what you think!

(By the way, I have a feeling these “Crazy or Cool” posts should become a permanent fixture, yes or no? Past “crazy or cool?” posts are on two-toned hair and half-shaved heads.)

… But I want to know what you think: is this crazy or cool to you?

Ugh, personally, I love it so much. It’s so girly yet punk. I am not the most daring when it comes to hair (I’ve had too many hair disasters back in highschool, so it seems my wild days are over), but this almost makes me want to go out and get some pastel colored streaks. What do you think of this trend?

Update Feb 28th: I found a picture of this trend on brown hair, so all my brunette readers (including myself!) who thought it could only be for blondes … well, it’s not! The model has quite light brown hair but it seems like the trend can still work for us brunettes! What do you think? Do you still like this trend?

shaved-side-hair-style

I love a good hair trend. The crazier the better! However – I’m a total coward and I’d rather look at the wild looks than sport it on myself.

Nevertheless, as much as I love crazy do’s, (remember we spoke previously about two toned hair color that I loved?) I did spot a new trend that I’m a little shocked at – shaving one side of your head. Kudos to the ladies above who dare to try out this wild style, but talk about commitment! I can only imagine that a truckload of extensions for a few years would do if these girls decide to grow their hair out.

What do you think about shaving one side of your head – cool or crazy? Like I said; as much as I love crazy styles, this may just be too crazy for my taste – only because I pity the grow-out time!

Kristen Stewart, Christina Aguilera and Drew Barrymore

What are your thoughts on two toned hair color? I’m highly jealous of Kristen Stewart’s peek-a-boo black hair underneath her brown – I sported this look when I was 16 but it did not look nowhere as cool as Kristen’s!

Drew Barrymore seems to love two toned hair color too that Christina Aguilera sported back in the day; Drew showed up at the 2009 Toronto International Film Fest for her new film, Whip It! with her blond hair and black ends.

What do you think of this trend of two toned hair colors – I love Kristen’s but I’m sorry to say Drew’s hair freaks me out! What do you think?
