It looks like the trend of pastel colors is not leaving us anytime soon, much to my delight, because I love it! Pastel colors just make me think of princesses, innocence, cotton candy and being a little girl…. So adorable. Of course, this love might have to do with the fact I’m turning 22 in a few months and I’m completely in denial about being an adult.
Anyway, at the Balenciaga fall 2010 collection, the pastel colored hair trend went a bit down south - to the eyebrows!

I have to admit, I burst out laughing when I saw these pictures. Only because I feel sorry for the models – all the crazy stuff they have to wear. They must feel a but stupid sometimes, no? The pastel colored brows really suited the clothes, though I’m wondering if this is a ‘trend’ that will ever leave the runway. We once talked about how bleached eyebrows are a tad scary, but what about candy and pastel colored eyebrows?
I guess you know my thoughts on this one. ;) But what do you think, are pastel-colored eyebrows crazy or cool?

As we witnessed on my best friend Christine in her recent guest review (and the photo above) black lipstick can seriously change your look. She looked so sweet in the brighter lip colors and then you get to black and she instantly looks dark, brooding and dangerous. (Death stare included.)

Two years ago, black lipglosses were everywhere, with big brands like Lancome and YSL releasing black lipglosses. The products weren’t meant to produce solid black color, though, but was made to be layered over your normal lipstick to give that certain edge.

I thought the lipglosses looked really cool in editorials but I didn’t think it was too wearable for real life. The lipglosses from both brands got a lot of press and I saw them all over the magazines, but I don’t think it caught on to shoppers because the glosses mysteriously disappeared soon after! MAC also launched black lipstick in one of their billion million many collections last fall, but I’m not sure how they sold. (Honestly though – I adore MAC but I really can never keep up with their collections!)
So for the Crazy or Cool feature this time around, I’d have to say black lips is a ‘crazy’ for me. They look amazing in fashion editorials but like a lot of other crazes, it looks better in fashion than real life. ;)
I’d like to know what do you think – can black lips ever be broken out of the goth/halloween stereotype? Would you ever sport black lips?

Forget about a subtle brand logo at the corner of your eye glasses – what about on your actual eyeball?! I chanced upon this product and knew I had to post. Though it’s been out for some time, I only heard about this now and from what I can tell they are still in production. Plus, we haven’t had a ‘Crazy or Cool‘ post in awhile!
Christian Dior, most famous for its haute couture clothes, handbags, makeup and the bestselling perfume J’adore, is to put its distinctive logo in a more unusual place: eyes.
The fashion house has come up with two sets of contact lenses, designed by John Galliano for the Dior Eyes range. The lenses will create the illusion of either a golden or a black ring around the iris. They will also contain a miniature CD logo.
The contact lenses are available in two sets, and each pair will create the illusion of either a golden or a black ring around the iris, said to “encircle the iris and dramatize the eyes.”
While I can understand the thought behind it – for one, colored contact lenses are especially popular in Asia – I am unsure about these. I have no problem with colored contact lenses and I’m all for having a brand logo on the product, but to add a ‘CD’ logo on your iris? I feel it’s a bit too much… talk about being ‘label-mad’! :-P
What do you think? Would you wear designer contact lenses?

Hands up who sported pigtails when they were kids? :) Pigtails are synomonious with young kids, probably because it’s so freaking cute. But I wonder, what do you think about pigtails n adults; say, past the age of 12? Is it still cute for you?
I gotta say I’m not loving it on adults, although like many of our crazy or cool posts, it’s all about your individual style. (Especially Zooey Deschanel. Can she do no wrong?!) Personally, I would look totally ridiculous and it just reminds me of the playground too much!
Would love to know your thoughts on this: pigtails on adults – crazy or cool? Do you still sport pigtails?

As some of you may know, I do have an interest in fashion. (I just can’t afford it, therefore it’s just tees and jeans for me!) So I completely get that sometimes fashion is eccentric, crazy, over the top, cool, you name it. It is art, after all, and I love that!
But I saw this latest trend of bunny ears and I was just confused to why it was a trend. I can’t decide whether it’s supposed to look cute or … I don’t know. It doesn’t make sense, so bunny ears may be too much for me. I don’t have any reason not to like it, but I just think it looks a little dumb – so this might have to be a ‘crazy’ for me this time!
What do you think? Bunny ears – crazy or cool?

Yes, this is a man wearing fake eyelashes. And yes, I too am jealous of his perfectly applied eye makeup.
Anyway, we last discussed what you thought about ‘Guyliner’ (men wearing eyeliner) and it was mixed responses, which I love – I love hearing all of your opinions! However, I need to take it further. What if the man in your life had a more perfectly applied smokey eye than you? What if he’s also wearing your foundation, stealing your lip balm, or worse – secretly trying on your expensive Shu Uemura fake eyelashes?
I’m sure we are all very aware that actors, TV presenters and musicians all wear makeup for TV appearances and photo shoots. But how much is too much for you? What’s your limit, if any? What I’m talking about those not in front of the camera – should they really leave the house with a face full of foundation, bronzer, colored lip balms and mascara filled lashes? What do you think?
Generally I think to each their own, but for my significant other I really don’t mind too much, as long as he doesn’t look like this. However, I might have to rip out his eyelashes in anger if they are longer (and prettier) than mine.

Fashion sometimes is either genius or very, very weird. (Most of the time genius, though.) Some trend are awesome, some … a little bit out of the box, to say the least. Crazy or Cool this time around comes from the suggestion of reader Dip (thanks Dip!). She wanted to know what others think of the bleached eyebrow trend, and so do I!
Personally, I think this trend looks great in editorial and it’s very high fashion. It gives the most focus on the eyes, and the eye makeup can really stand out. Not to mention, the models look more intense and extreme – I love it. In real life though, I might think it’s a bit weird. I mean, eyebrows frame the face and gives so much expression, so and the person may look permanently surprised. So fashion; love it. Real life, not so much.
What do you think of the bleached eyebrow trend? Is this trend crazy or cool to you?
