It’s your favorite time of the week! ;) OK, maybe not, but I really like writing the Beauty Tip of the Week posts because it means it’s a Thursday – and the weekend is just one day away!

This week’s tip is super simple. If you’ve run out of blush (shocker! horror!), walk, don’t run to your closest pink or peach lipstick (dark colors like reds, purples and browns won’t work with this tip). All you need to do is rub a cotton ball over your lipstick, and pat some on the apple of your cheeks – not too much, or you’ll be needing this blush tip.
Next, use your middle and ring finger to blend the lipstick on your cheeks and follow your cheekbone up to a little before your earlobes. Keep it light handed and remember to blend. Voila, your very own cream blush.
Have you tried this makeup trick before? How did it work for you? Those who are acne-prone may want to skip this trick though, as the oils from the lipstick may cause breakouts.

Those who ‘suffer’ from straight eyelashes would know that eyelash curlers are a Godsend. Personally, my lashes tend to quite literally take after my mixed heritage: half my eyelashes are straight and point down, while the other half are long and have a natural curl. Can you say annoying?! (This picture showcases this annoyance perfectly!)

However, there is a trick to allow your lashes to curl easier. To get a little extra ‘lift’ that lasts, grab your hairdryer and blow the eyelash curler for 30 seconds before using it. The heat will allow your lashes to bend more easily. But as always, be gentle when gripping your eyelash curler. To make sure the curler doesn’t get too hot and burn your lids, hold the dryer at least a foot away and ‘fan’ it up and down so it gives it a chance cool down a bit. Next, apply your mascara as quickly as possible to hold your curly lashes, and then bat them silly. ;)
Simple, no? And it works so well! Has anyone tried this trick before?

Another week, another beauty tip. ;) This week: tame messy, unruly eyebrows with items you already have somewhere in your beauty closet! Brow gels are great, but most of them are just brands that slap on their name, pretty packaging and mark up the price by about 400%… it’s way too expensive if you just need a quick fix now and again in between brow tweezing sessions.
For this quick fix, grab a toothbrush and some hairspray. (Speaking of hairspray, this one is probably the best ever made!) Next, hold your hairspray about a foot away from the toothbrush and spray the bristles of the toothbrush. Then run the toothbrush up and across your brows to secure that all hair is in place. Voila, groomed brows!
(Oh yes, and this goes without saying, but use a separate toothbrush, not the one you use in your mouth everyday. Do not ever put a toothbrush full of hairspray in your mouth!)
What do you think – have you ever tried this beauty tip? It’s one of the more ‘famous’ ones!

The title says it all, really. As if eyeshadow doesn’t already do enough, (eyeshadow can be used on your cheeks, your brows, contouring…) it can also help with your haircolor!

For a quick fix to cover up roots, pat some eyeshadow that is the same color as your hair on your roots. The easiest is to get a blunt sponge eyeshadow brush, like those standard brushes you get in an eyeshadow palette.
This trick especially works for those wanting to cover lighter colored roots to match their darker haircolor. So if you ever are in a hurry to go out and forgot a root-job, try it! Aunty Beauty Fool swears by it. ;)
Have you ever tried this trick out before?

Well my friends, the day finally came. It was inevitable: I ran out of beauty tips to write about for Beauty Tip of the Week! (At least for now.) What’s a girl to do? In this day and age, you Tweet about it! I asked on Twitter (follow me @rlorentzen) for your beauty tips and this is what I received; all coincidently DIY tips with ingredients you can find in your kitchen! Here’s what they said:

@theblogstylist: A slice of raw potato [applied on the affected area] will instantly reduce the size of a pimple.
@onesixtynotepad: got this from newspaper 2 years ago. Had it on daily and it really work on first application but stopped because I can’t keep up lol. Carrots for vitamin c, tan glow. Cucumber for cooling and moisture. Lemon for whitening and for peeling. Purée then and make a paste. Apply as mask. Add a little bit or onion (this stinks) for oily skin. Hah.
@glossboudoir: Make your own sugar scrub! Mix 3 tablespoons olive oil + 1/4 cup sugar.
Thanks, guys! Got any of your own 140 character beauty tips of your own? Do share! :)

It’s that time of the week again! Whether you’re applying tinted moisturizer, liquid foundation or moisturizer, there is a tip to really get the most out of your product.

To get the most out of the dollop of product you squeezed out, instead of squeezing it onto the back of your hand, squeeze the product onto your palms. Take two fingers and really ‘mix’ the product in – the heat from your fingers will make the cosmetic more spreadable for a flawless finish, and you use less product. If, like me, you are a beast and like to slap on your makeup, rub the makeup gently between your palms and spread it all over your face. This also uses such a small amount of product it’s unbelievable – your products would last much longer!
How do you apply your products? Do you do anything special or do you just slap it on? ;)

Sorry for the lack of posts this week, I have been entertaining as my best friend from New Zealand has been in town, and have been getting ready for my graduation! The week seemed to pass by and I can’t believe it’s Beauty Tip of the Week time!

This beauty tip is extremely easy to do. It’s done a lot in makeup application to ‘lift’ your eyes, and doubles up as an ‘anti-aging’ makeup trick for those who want a bit of a brighter appearance around the eyes. All you have to do is apply highlighter shadow on your brow bone (right under your eyebrow). Benefit has a product just for that called High Brow, but really, any shimmer eyeshadow can do the trick. Just apply it straight across underneath your brows, and make sure to blend – you don’t want a very unnatural line of shimmer underneath each eyebrow! (For another makeup tip using shimmer shadow for brighter eyes, try this trick.)
Have you ever tried this makeup trick? It’s a pretty popular makeup trick! ;)
