Beer as Hair Styling Product?

heineken

I just read this interesting interview over at BeautyEditor.com.au with top Australian hairstylist Joh Bailey, and I couldn’t help but notice one of his tips:

Beer. It’s fantastic as a setting lotion – it’s something to do with the fermentation process. Put it in a spray bottle and mist it in before a blow-dry. The effect is really beautiful. Really. I like Heineken but even Toohey’s will do!

I first heard of Joh Bailey on Australia’s Next Top Model when he personally did the makeovers for the girls and thought he was fantastic! (I’ve been secretly watching AusNTM5 online and fully loving it. Such a guilty pleasure!)

Anyways, back to the beer – I’ve heard the trick of rinsing out your hair with beer for extra shine, but not as a setting lotion!

Someone want to try this and tell us what you think? :-P

In Britain there is a TV programme called ‘Snog, Marry, Avoid’. The presenter Jenny Frost tried this and it actually worked, her hair looked light and shiny!

She did say that it smelled a little bit funny afterwards, but apparently that can be combated by using a Pantenne hair spray as they have a scent that masks it quite well.

I don’t know if I would personally dare try this, I’m quite happy with my Lee Stafford hot shots to give me my shine boost!

I like the sound of that TV show already, haha! :-P

Yeah, I too might pass on this trick. Plus, I doubt any of my friends would care to donate their precious beer for me to experiment!

By the way, I’m in London now on holiday and I absolutely love your country! :)
