Beauty Fool on Hope Springs Internal

in Site News

One of my favorite bloggers of the moment, Dani, has two great websites that I check every morning - Positively Present and Hope Springs Internal. Positively Present is a little older, and has been my favorite for a few months now, and is a blog that is all about life and living positively. Dani is just a breath of fresh air and her posts are always a delight to read.

Hope Springs Internal is her newer site, that focuses on positive women in the media, and boy was I honored when Dani wanted to interview me!

You can check out the interview here: The Beauty Fool: An Interview.

Let us know what you think! Please leave comments telling Dani she’s amazing, I am so touched about her kind words about Beauty Fool. :) While you’re at it, do look around Positively Present and Hope Springs Internal. They are wonderful blogs, and are always filled with uplifting lyrics, quotes, photos and advice.

Thanks Dani for this opportunity! It was so much fun and an honor. :D

I’ve just read the interview and i think your answers are like your blog : honest and wise !
I also agree with this sentence by the interviewer “I love makeup, pretty clothes, shoes, pink. It sounds contrary to my identity as a feminist, but it’s not.” Too many people think that when you’re interested by makeup, beauty or fashion, you’re stupid or subjected to men. Personally, I don’t put on makeup because I want to please men (besides, men are generally not big fans of makeup^^ ), I put on makeup because I love to play with colors, because I just like it, not because i’m insecure or superficial. For example, I follow a makeup “guru” on youtube and in the comments on her page, someone asked her to do review of books because makeup was not “serious” or “for intelligent people” :o So many preconceived ideas and moral superiority. Does it annoy you too ?

Hey Krib, thanks for reading and the comment on my blog. So touching :) I hope you liked the interview.

I agree with both Dani (the interviewer) and you. Just because you like to wear makeup, whatever the reason, doesn’t mean you are superficial, insecure or just want to ‘get men’. What people don’t realize is that pretty much everyone wears makeup, whether it is a regular woman, or President Obama!

Everyone takes care of their appearance, I don’t see how applying makeup is different from going to the gym or getting a haircut! Unfortunately when you enjoy activities that are to do with your ‘looks’ there is a notion that you are insecure, vain, stupid, or superficial, which I think it completely untrue and very wrong! For example, there are many beauty bloggers out there who are in corporate firms, studying law, etc. Doesn’t mean makeup is the only thing you do in your life!

Great question and as always thank you for your comment Krib, always enjoy them :)
