Aubrey Organics Silken Earth Translucent Base Makeup Review

Prepare for more organic and eco-friendly talk here, ladies! Just last month, I had a “moment” and decided once and for all to get healthy and start being ‘green’ – it’s been a month now, and so far so good!

This change had me exercising, eating right, and trying to do more for our environment. One of the things I’ve also been doing is researching on organic makeup, when I was introduced to Aubrey Organics, specially their translucent base, and I have fallen in love with it!

Feather-light, loose base powder blends with your own skin tone to even out color, soften imperfections and give your complexion a healthy glow. Formulated with rich, nourishing powdered silk and natural colors.

Coverage

While it’s not full coverage, it is a very light, sheer base that can go on top of your foundation. So far, whether you layer this on top of foundation or by itself, the result is flawless. It gives a nice, sheer, yet matte finish to your face, and I didn’t really see any shine to my face the whole day – I didn’t feel a need to get out those annoying-but-life-saving oil blotters!

I know this may be an issue to some, so I gotta say it: Although there are different color shades; there is hardly any color, as it is so fine and translucent.

So really, there isn’t a real need to worry if you got a color that looks a little too light or dark, it goes on very translucent like an invisible veil; so the more coverage you want, the more layers you can apply – I really can’t see it caking or looking too “done”.

Application

The product comes with a little brush, but I would recommend one those big, fluffy brushes so you get a very light, airy application. I used my skunk brush from the M.A.C. Color Form brush set, and it looked so light and airy. For those who would want a fuller coverage, try a kabuki brush that would pick up more of the product.

All Natural!

What I love about this product is that it has The Natural Products Association seal, which I wrote about in my post, How to Spot Natural Products. Natural, affordable, good for the skin and protecting the environment – what can be better?!

Overall…

I really hope Aubrey Organics makes a liquid foundation or concealer form – I normally only use powder but it does not cover redness or blemishes on the skin (and those darn eye circles!), so for some with skin concerns, you would need another product underneath for coverup.

If you have good skin, then I really think this is a great product for you. Like I said earlier, treat this product more as a “veil”, or “extra glow”, not as a full coverage foundation.

I’d love to know if anyone uses any organic brands – please tell me! I am really interested to know more brands in this market. What are your favorite organic products?

Oh oh…I know Origins has an organic line as well. Definitely worth checking out.
And if I remember correctly, Jurlique is organic as well. Or I think they call it bio-dynamic, or something like that. Go check out their website to know more. =) Their products smells really good. And natural.

Thanks Vicky! Just researched that Origins had a makeup line, had no idea! I will start looking at their line, ’cause I know there’s a big counter of it here. :P

Kaye, you can buy it through their website, http://www.aubrey-organics.com. However I know there are easier alternatives for Asian countries which I am gonna find out soon – will write here again once I do :)
