SzeLing recently tagged me in a tag called ‘I think you’re an awesome girl’ (thank you!) where I have to list 10 random facts about myself. I’ve never done a tag before, but I thought this would be great because if you have read my about page, all I say about myself is my age, where I live, and that I’m a student. Bor-ing! So I thought I’d share more about me.
Here goes:
1. I have a strange obsession with The Maldives. I don’t know why I have such a fascination with the place, but blue water and clear skies sound pretty good to me. The fact that it’s sinking makes it even more … urgent. I need to go soon! Every computer screen I come into contact with has a desktop image of the Maldives.
2. I have had a very big variety of pets: countless fish tanks, an army of hamsters (one gave birth and ATE her babies after), sea monkeys and … eels. No idea where I got the idea to have pet eels, but they were cute! I currently have a dog, Jeri.
3. I tried every instrument in the world until I was 14 and bought a guitar, which I stuck with until now. I suck, but that doesn’t matter – I love music and love playing it.
4. I love my name! My Mom named me after the song, ‘Walk Away Renee‘ by The Left Banke. She heard it when she was 11, loved it, and vowed to name her daughter Renee. I’m also pretty sure she had a crush on the singer. It’s a French name that means “re-birth”, which I really like. Also, I was extra glad about my name when my Mom told me what my Dad wanted to name me. No offense Dad, but that name … no. Hell no!
5. I’m a Christian. I recently found my faith again – did a lot of soul searching this year – and I am so glad I did. I have never felt so fulfilled, complete and whole. My spirit has been lifted.
6. I can eat spaghetti for the rest of my life and never get bored. Actually, make that anything Italian.
7. I can’t stand the cold. I’m the one always wearing a cardigan! In shopping malls, the bus, wherever – I have my warm hoodie and look ridiculous, because this country is h-o-t.
8. I have loved writing all my life, and Beauty Fool is like my baby, you have no idea how much I love it! I can only hope one day, perhaps, I can make it a full time job.
9. Every time I hear the name Avril Lavigne I shudder – not because I have anything against her; but I used to be called ‘Avril’ all the time in high school and it was unbelievably annoying. Apparently I looked like her since I have straight brown hair, love eyeliner, and wore skate shoes in school. I didn’t know she owned these things?! I thought it would be over after high school, but I still get it from strangers now and again. Sigh … I don’t see it?!
10. I’m Eurasian. My dad is Danish and my mom is Chinese.
Alright, that’s all from me! I hope you found some stuff vaguely interesting and enjoyed this post. I am tagging any of my readers who have a blog and would like to do this! If you do this tag, please post your link in a comment so I can check it out; it’d be awesome to know more about my readers.

oh my god people used to call me avril in middle school….haha it was the WORST.
and i too, am an avid hamster collector : )
Haha! Aw hamsters are so cute! I remember I had a cage with all those crazy tubes for the hamsters to run around in, looked like a small playground.
And ugh, just cause someone looks remotely tomboyish (or whatever she is) they call you Avril! So annoying
Ooh, nice little sneek peek into the life of Renee
That’s the thing I love about blogging, you get to know so many people on a personal level, because every writer puts a piece of their personality into their posts.
I agree 100% about the tropical island, only my favourite is Mauritius or Bali (never been to either).
Don’t worry about being called Avril. She is hot and famous, what more could you want?
I used to be called prince Harry a lot, my hair was always a lot more orangy
A bientot!
Diggy – Upgradereality.com´s last blog … Whether you think you can or can’t…you are right.
Thanks Diggy, I so agree. Every blog visit, I straight away go to the About page and love it when it’s as detailed as possible. Blogging is all about personalities and community, so it’s nice to know more about everyone.
And I want to go to Mauritius too! I know someone from there and she says it’s paradise. I’ve been to Bali but I was young so I can’t really remember too much of it. Some other paradises I have in mind is Fiji and Dominican Republic.
Oh, Diggy is a redhead! Nice to know. Haha, I don’t know why but I just don’t like the ‘Avril’ comparisons, but you get called a PRINCE, so you win
I love this post Renee
Things like this make readers get to know you better and that`s awesome! Keep`em coming.
Oh and I love italian food too!

Yay for Italian food! I think we need to go for an Italian feast then, when (if) I ever come to your beautiful country!
That’s a lovely post. It’s nice to get to know more about you Renee.

Aw thanks so much, Paris! Paris is a beautiful name too but I think I read somewhere it’s not your real name, right? I am curious what your real name is!
Aw your baby photo is so cute! Think you look more Danish as you get older. (that’s my 2 cents worth)!!!!
Thanks Ruth. Yeah, I think when I was a baby I looked very Chinese – I was bald and looked like a baby buddha LOL. I think as I grew older I looked more mixed
Aww you are such a sweetheart, Renee! I’m still curious what your dad wanted to name you originally lol!
ilyana´s last blog … addicted to you ?
Hey Ilyana. Thank you – long time no speak! Hmm… I would love to tell you but it might be someone’s name/loved ones name! It’s just a very old fashioned Danish name, just didn’t feel ‘me’ at all!
Oh wow I thought it was just me. I’m the girl who’s always got a cardigan stashed in the bag lest I go somewhere cold. And my God, it’s tropical here in the Philippines, so I often get weird looks.
Kaye´s last blog … My New Obsession: Facial Masks
Kaye – Haha, no it’s me too! Like today it was raining and I had my full gear: hoodies, shoes, socks, jeans. People in the train thought I was mad! I guess some people just can’t take the cold, lucky that we’re in hot climates!
Shucks I guess I didn’t hit the submit button for my reply, after all
But I really enjoyed this post!! Mine is sushi. If I only had sushi to eat for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t complain one bit. And I also did the guitar, but fell quickly out of love with it. The other was cello, which I wish I had stuck with. Oh well, the things you take so for granted as a kid….
Also way curious about the other name! I wish I had been named after a song or something cool like that, but Mary’s as standard and Blah as you can get
Mary´s last blog … Hey, Sugar Lips!
Mary – Haha oh I was going to write sushi right after spaghetti. I love sushi just as much, but I remembered a time when I ate it a few times in one week for a month and I got so sick of it. So it’s more of a “quality over quantity” thing for me haha.
I know what you mean about taking things for granted! If I think of all the stuff I had started as a kid and kept til now; I’d actually be an interesting person with skills! Haha I guess as kids you’re interest change daily.
And pfft… Mary’s not a cool name? She is the mother of Jesus!
lol you know, my brother’s name is Joseph and one time at this yoga place we tried out, we were introduced as Mary and Joseph… everyone just looked at us funny so the instructor had to interject that we’re siblings :S
Mary´s last blog … Hey, Sugar Lips!
LOL! Haha that’s so awesome – Mary and Joseph. I like it! Your parents must be religious?
Hey Renee, i love this post

Hello! Long time no speak. OK ma’am, I followed you on Twitter
We’ll talk there! xx
Aww those polaroid pictures are so cute!
