It’s your favorite time of the week! ;) OK, maybe not, but I really like writing the Beauty Tip of the Week posts because it means it’s a Thursday – and the weekend is just one day away!

This week’s tip is super simple. If you’ve run out of blush (shocker! horror!), walk, don’t run to your closest pink or peach lipstick (dark colors like reds, purples and browns won’t work with this tip). All you need to do is rub a cotton ball over your lipstick, and pat some on the apple of your cheeks – not too much, or you’ll be needing this blush tip.

Next, use your middle and ring finger to blend the lipstick on your cheeks and follow your cheekbone up to a little before your earlobes. Keep it light handed and remember to blend. Voila, your very own cream blush.

Have you tried this makeup trick before? How did it work for you? Those who are acne-prone may want to skip this trick though, as the oils from the lipstick may cause breakouts.

I am one very spoilt girl. I was invited to the launch of Chloe’s newest perfume, Love, Chloe, at the very beautiful presidental suite at the Fullerton Hotel. Seriously though, a picture paints a thousand words, so I dont have much to say… look at the place! Pure luxury.

It was a lovely Friday afternoon where we got to mingle, chat, and be introduced to Chloe’s latest offering. The fragrance is described as a “concentrate of emotions”, and was inspired by the intimacy of our personal beauty ritual, which I found really sweet – I think we all can relate to having a beauty ritual! ;)

There has been a craze in Asia lately (by lately I mean the last few years) about circle contact lenses, made to make your iris’ look larger, and therefore give you a wide-eyed look. And no – Lady Gaga in the above picture is not wearing them, but sometimes I see some girls who do circles lenses so over the top it reminds me Lady Gaga’s digitally altered look. :/

Whilst looking for images on circle lenses, I also stumbled upon this article from the NY Daily News that shed some light on how dangerous these circles may be:

Circle lenses, which make eyes look bigger by covering not only the iris but part of the whites, can reportedly cause serious eye problems, or worse, blindness, says the U.K. Daily Mail.

“There literally is potential for somebody to lose their vision within 24 hours from an infection,” Dr. Assumpta Madu of the Montefiore Medical Centre in New York told the BBC.

The circle lenses can deprive the eyes of oxygen because they cover the whites of the eyes, according to Yahoo! News. The specialty lens can also scratch the cornea of the eye and leave permanent damage if not properly fitted by an optometrist.

Circle lenses often do not come with guidelines on their longevity or use. Therefore, users may injure their eyes by wearing them daily. Improper care in cleaning and storing the lens may also cause eye damage, reports Yahoo! News.

Personally, I think they are fine but I see some girls who take the ‘doll’ look a little too far – making them look like possessed dolls! So for those who do it over the top, and with the potential risk factors, this is a definite ‘crazy’ for me.

So, I want to ask – what do you think about circle lenses? Crazy, cool, ridiculous or the best invention, like, ever? Also, have you used them personally? I’d love to hear from those who have. :)

This post needs no introduction, don’t you think? There are a little over 3 more months left to the year, and wouldn’t 2011 be awesome if all our body image woes were put away? Here are some of my ideas of starting to love your body the way it is… please add your own, too!

Love your best feature. Instead of focusing on the body part you hate, why not emphasize the one that you love? If you hate your nose but love your lips, why not experiment with bright and bold lip colors to show them off? Same with your body – if you love one body part more than the rest, emphasize them and dress them up.

Ban all negative body talk. Make it a point to you and your group of friends to ban negative body talk – whether it’s complaining about your weight or gossiping about someone else – both are as horrible as each other and I recommend to stop it! Anytime you or someone else even starts, don’t worry about coming across rude – just tell them to stop.

Accept people of all sizes. I cannot begin to explain the disgust I felt when an ex-boyfriend made a comment about a larger girl. Thank heavens he’s long gone form my life. I’d suggest you don’t ever be as classless as that – never make comments about other people’s size! Just like eye colors and heights, people come in different shapes and sizes. Learn to accept it and stop judging others or yourself. If everyone looked the same this planet would be extremely boring, don’t you think?

Those who ‘suffer’ from straight eyelashes would know that eyelash curlers are a Godsend. Personally, my lashes tend to quite literally take after my mixed heritage: half my eyelashes are straight and point down, while the other half are long and have a natural curl. Can you say annoying?! (This picture showcases this annoyance perfectly!)

However, there is a trick to allow your lashes to curl easier. To get a little extra ‘lift’ that lasts, grab your hairdryer and blow the eyelash curler for 30 seconds before using it. The heat will allow your lashes to bend more easily. But as always, be gentle when gripping your eyelash curler. To make sure the curler doesn’t get too hot and burn your lids, hold the dryer at least a foot away and ‘fan’ it up and down so it gives it a chance cool down a bit. Next, apply your mascara as quickly as possible to hold your curly lashes, and then bat them silly. ;)

Simple, no? And it works so well! Has anyone tried this trick before?

I was kindly invited to a blogger’s meetup at Sccube the Apothecary, a newish skincare shop here in Singapore that houses cult, celebrity endorsed skincare products. Housing brands like Dr. Brandt (who names Madonna and Jessica Alba as fans) and Rodial (who boasts the beautiful Scarlett Johansson as a user), I was very excited to go in the store! I’ve walked past it a few times but never dared to go in because it looked too exclusive and expensive for me. :-P But I’m glad I did – Sccube is the place to go in Singapore if you’re looking for cult skincare brands. (But yes, the prices are a bit steep!)

Whilst there, the other bloggers and I were introduced to some of the products from the brands they house, as well as trying them on and asking questions, etc. I really wanted to take more pictures because the store is so serene and beautiful, (their motto is Science and Style) but my damn camera started turning everything yellow (anyone know the reason for this?). It was really a pleasant afternoon – the store’s ambience is so relaxing. Even better is that they also do specialized facials, which I hope to try someday.

So many of you may know about my freak out on Twitter sometime back where I tried a glycolic acid solution on my face and then literally burned it. (Idiotic Renee Moment #9801.) It’s been a little over 3 months and dare I say the scabs, scarring and general woe from it has all finally subsided, so I’m going to write a WARNING post of sorts so that you don’t burn your beautiful faces either!

OK, first and foremost, why did I do it?! Good question. As many of you may know I have always been quite open with the fact that my skin in my high school years were definitely heartbreaking for me – I know of many who’ve had it worse but I think anyone who’s dealt with acne would know that even having “mild” acne really does effect your self esteem and confidence. Especially at that very insecure age that is the teenage years. To cut a long story short, I first started getting zits and the whole works around 14, and I was finally “done” with acne around 19 years old – I started to notice my zits die down at 18 (thanks to my new skincare routine by Clinique) and by 19 dare I say my acne was gone (but not forever, it seems!).
